it is a sad truth that happens all too often, I agree with this.

We began years ago teaching the kids from the Baltimore Catechism. They've been well formed from those books.

It's clear and concise.

Also beginning to go the TLM and that has brought much more reading and interest in church for them as much as me. Hard to explain it.

Thanks for yours and Green's input in this thread.

The problem is the influence of modernity (enlightenment thinking) on Protestant thinking.

Protestants are most likely (out of the three branches) to view the universe as two separate stories rather than God being everywhere present.

Many Protestants have this in common with deism, and it usually is hidden or even undetected until a topic like prayer arises.

Nope. But I don't think that our loved ones or anyone else other than God can look down and see us... if they could, they would see our failings and be saddened... and in Heaven, there is no sadness.

Just my thoughts...

cute seeing Catholics acting like their canon is anything besides population control and grifting peasants for indulgences

Firstly, our Canon is the opposite of population control. I mean seriously, there are insults the church has opened itself up to (being 2000+ years old will do that when there are so many Johnny come lately churches). If anything, the catholic church's stance on reproduction would be pushing over population - at least as it is understood by the uneducated or poorly catechized.

"Grifting" of peasants for indulgences happened in a wayward period of the catholic church's history certainly. As did the betrayal of Jesus.
