Only in the hopes and dreams of Catholics.

The first assembly of books into a Bible was done by the Catholic Church; I’m not sure what kind of intellectual gymnastics you believe not to understand this. BTW, I’m not Catholic, but I understand history and how time works.

Baptists are irrelevant when it comes to religious discussion.
There’s a good argument for them not even being real Protestants.

every Sunday Mass had three readings from the Bible. then each weekday Mass has one or two passages read. Liturgy of the Word before Liturgy of the Eucharist

Four readings from the Bible at every Sunday Mass: OT, Psalms, usually Paul, Gospels

Over what? Their ignorance of the RCC’s atrocious and unscriptural theology?

Laugh it up, but it’s true, and it’s exactly why I left it in the first place. It doesn’t not stand up to biblical scrutiny. All trust is placed in the teachings of the RCC and not in scripture.

plenty of people pulling stuff out if their arse in this thread but I did google and find this article:
Are Baptists Protestant?
My dad was a Baptist until he converted to Catholicism. Baptists are Protestants in my book.

did you read the article? Baptists were not part of the original splinter groups - Episcopalians, Lutherans, etc. Nor did they break off from those groups - well that’s what the article states - so they are not Protestants (bs)

Like my Baptist family members would say ‘can’t get drunk off beer!’

Congregational polity, Credo Baptism, little regard for the Eucharist.

Non confessional, non credal, borderline solo scriptura.

That oughta do it.

John 20:23. My turn. Where does it say you have direct access to God?

I respect your beliefs. The belief of Protestants utilizes John 20:23 but also other verses provide to their conclusion.

“The Roman Catholic teaching requires that the authority to forgive sins be conveyed uniquely to the Apostles and then to their successors, the priests and bishops, who have a special sacramental authority. But we find no indication that Jesus gave perpetual, sacramental authority to those who come after the Apostles. The Apostolic office is distinct in function and authority from the offices of elder and shepherd (Eph. 4:11), and at any rate, Jesus gives authority to forgive sins to the entire church, as we see in Matthew 18:15–20, not only to select individuals.”

Just some food for thought on where the “other side” is coming from.
