10 page thread
TD doesn't want to hear it but this is the truth. You don't know enough about Nuss flaws to say otherwise. Both open a game up differently. JD can still progress no matter how many years he has been in NCAA. The scout right there on the page said it. He already saw big progression that according to TD.com he hasn't moved since ASU.
That's what actual coaching gives you in 1 year time unlike his time at ASU where it was clear he did not have the coaching. So yes, he can progress with another year. He doesn't need immense progression for defenses to have a nightmare defending our offense. He just needs to progress in everything on the pass side. How much is up to him.

Yeah this is truly BKs first big decision at LSU where fans are split. He’s gunna get push back no matter who he goes with. If we do go with JD I just hope we keep one of either Nuss or Howard honestly

After seeing what Nuss did, all the receivers would revolt if JD was starting next year, lol.

Nuss made several bad reads in that game. You guys need to watch it again. He's boom or bust. Stat wise career at LSU it's so far a bigger negative than positive. He has more TOs than he does TDs.

ColdTurkey: I do not give a metric frick what Matt Hayes says about LSU's QB room.
Thanks everybody I couldn't have done this without yall

You aren’t taking a chance with Daniels. He is what he is and the coaches know that. The chance would be going with the unknown. The coaches have to decide if they want to go with the known or unknown.
Absolutely and more than likely one of the other two could be better than Daniels but there is a possibility they could be not as good as him. Coaches tend to lean towards what they know more than taking chances.
ETA: this is not an endorsement for any QB just stating my opinion. I like Daniels and think he isn’t nearly as bad as the rant thinks he is. I also get the upside to Nuss and Howard. Would be fine with whatever they decide to do.

Why would we lose Howard? He’ll be a redshirt freshman next year with 4 years to play.
Posted on 12/10/22 at 11:28 am to TigerFanPA
Is he the known now? Yes. He’s started 40+ games and in that time has shown great play and awful play.
Daniels can keep the team as a potential 10 win team, but he won’t win them a championship next year. A lot had to go right this year for LSU to end up in that bn position and they likely don’t get those breaks next year.
The problem is if you trot out Daniel’s next year, Nuss is gone and Howard likely gets minimal experience and real game development meaning you go into 2024 with a green QB in a year when a title shot would be more likely.
You can’t waste a year if development for a win or two more next season.

Fans think there is a decision to be made by the coaches lol. That’s cute
The only decision is if Jayden wants to go pro or not. We should know within the month

Interesting stuff in the article if you are not invested in any QB camp.
I am concerned that JD has basically set and those changes will not come easily.

Everything at LSU of late is compared to the 2019 season, which is understandable because it’s the greatest single season in the modern era of college football. But it was also rare — and comparing any other team or season is mental gymnastics.
But — and this is critical to the current state of the quarterbacks at LSU — there are those on staff who believe Daniels can make a significant jump in 2023 like Joe Burrow did in 2019. Multiple scouts I’ve spoken to believe the same thing.
They’ve watched a player who, conceptually, didn’t practice and play within any structure at Arizona State for the first 3 seasons. He freelanced, and he made it up as he went along.
I am concerned that JD has basically set and those changes will not come easily.

As a passer with much more talent around him at WR than he had at ASU, he didn’t progress at all. He had a three game run in the middle of the season where he gained most of his meaningful stats, then returned to form.
Progression is not showing a spike then going back to bad. It is maintaining that progression. Hell, he regressed against worse teams not because he faced tougher teams.

That happens when a guy has limited experience and is playing the best d in the country. So, Daniel’s gets 40+ games to show improvement and Nuss gets like 2 maybe 3 games equivalent of play some with second stringers?

JD got a top 5 QB draft grade, which would land him in the 2nd or 3rd round. He's a decent size quarterback that can run like a deer. His only knack is hesitating and not trusting his wide outs. The right team could polish him into a very, very good QB. The only thing he gets from another year at LSU, is another year at LSU. He'd have the chance to win the SEC and playoffs, sure. He'd also have an opportunity to play himself into a 1st round pick, while exposing himself to another year in the most physical league in the NCAA. If I were JD, I'd strike while the iron is hot and pray I go to a team with a top notch QB coach.

Man, the hard on some of y’all have for Nuss is absurd.
Do y’all even remember Jayden’s last series in that game? He frickin led an immaculate 1 minute drill with 2 heavily sprained ankles.
Nuss is a gunslinger. Nothing more. Nothing less. Do you remember the half that Southern outscored him in?
I mean, he was also outscored in the SEC ship half and Georgia was not even trying.
There might be 10% of this board that actually understands what good QB play is and that is astounding considering that we all got to watch Burrow for 2 seasons. And half of you hated him for a season too.

Being down by 4 TD when he came into the game will cause you to force the ball trying to make a play.
He made some he missed some.Kid was trying to get us back in the game

You’re more likely to lose Howard if Nuss is named starter.
