I don’t think they were that happy after the southern game with him.

No player takes a half a game as some indication of how a QB can actually play. They know better.

Not at all what I hope, but if it happens I think it sets LSU up about as well as we can hope:

Daniels for two years
Nuss transfers
Howard for two years
Collins transfers
Hurley for two years

That happens when a guy has limited experience and is playing the best d in the country. So, Daniel’s gets 40+ games to show improvement and Nuss gets like 2 maybe 3 games equivalent of play some with second stringers?

Nuss had all spring and fall practice to prove he deserved to be the starter. He failed. But by all mean, take a half a game he did pretty good in (and ignore the half a game against Southernthat he did poorly in) as some sign that “he’s the man” at QB. Whatever makes you feel better.

Progression is not showing a spike then going back to bad. It is maintaining that progression. Hell, he regressed against worse teams not because he faced tougher teams.

This just isnt true. He definitely progressed as a passer from where he was in the first half of the FSU game (as did the o-line which is very important but is a different conversation).

Daniels problem is he is a streaky passer. It wasn't a peak and a fall, he was up and down all year. He also played great in the biggest game of the season (Bama) and was throwing the ball well against UGA before getting injured.

In my opinion our best option going forward is Nuss or Howard, but I realize we run the risk of regressing next year until they get a decent amount of game experience.

The biggest fallacy on here is the argument that this is an easy, obvious choice for "their guy".

Exactly . He frames the throw and is afraid to let the ball go unless the receiver is wide open , which doesn’t always happen in the SEC . CBK came here to win championships , not 9 to 10 games every year . JD has demonstrated that he has a ceiling .

Nope. The minute JD transferred here he was going to be the starter day 1.
Everything else was just a facade and talking points.

Totally disagree . JD needs to go , for the many reasons previously mentioned here .
Some guys , no matter how much coaching or practice , have a hard time with spatial relationships , peripheral vision , and processing what they see very quickly . Don’t think that can be drilled into one’s head .

LSU will not get any “ breaks “ with JD next year because teams know how to defend him now . He needs to GO !

I mean, he was also outscored in the SEC ship half and Georgia was not even trying

Look, Daniels played really well against UGA and if not for our horrid special teams and a terrible performance by the D, we would have been in a position to win going into the 2nd half.

But although UGA was up big at half, they were trying on D. Nuss just made some great plays. UGA is not the defending national champ and #1 team in the nation because they let up on teams. They are used to dominating teams defensively no matter the score and they take pride in that. They just simply couldn't dominate either of our QBs and skill players. LSU didn't break the SEC Championship passing yards record because UGA wasn't trying. Credit to our O-line for giving our QBs a clean pocket as well on quite a number of passes.

Well , Saban never had a problem deciding which QB was playing , now did he ?? Yanked Hurts in the Natty against Georgia for Tua and won .

This. Receivers would rather have eight catches and two tackles they are forced to make after Nuss throws a pick, than to have two catches and eight times of running down the field open while JD tucks the ball.

My bold prediction is JD5 gets invited to NY next year for the Heisman presentation. There I said it.

He was top 5 in Heisman odds a few weeks ago until he imploded and played like arse against A&M. a full offseason with the team colliding with his experience and the 4-year cycle at LSU, someone here is getting the invite and I think he wins the qb competition. Again.

People still riding that Georgia performance wave from Nuss if you rewatch the game he should've thrown at least 4 ints plus his fumble. Give me Jayden for another year with Walker backing him up anyday.
