The SEC having a presence in Texas is good for the SEC. It's about product diversity and reach, and having your product in Texas (where there is money) is a good thing for the SEC.

If it becomes official, when they beat UT this season..... We'd better hear :

SEC.... SEC.... SEC. Cheers!

Explain to me exactly what Texas A&M brings to the SEC besides a few more television sets. Their football program isn't even as good as Arkansas. They regularly get their arse kicked in out of conference games. Hell, the Aggies aren't even competitive in the Big 12. They'll be another Ole Miss/South Carolina in the SEC, maybe not even that good.

typical Gumper

there are more sports involved here than football....their baseball and basketball programs will be competative right away, their fan base in houston is huge, their campus will be the largest in the conference and they have a enrollment of 51k

please move on from the fran/bear bs, no one cares anymore- will their fans are losers of the first degree, this is a good move by the conference

If this story holds water that's most likely what they will do, I would think anyway. Chance they'll go PAC 12? With their LHN I don't know if another conference would want that mess.

Basketball, baseball, track, softball, Academics, and better than Ole Miss as A rival for LSU

Texas A&M isn't anything to write home about in basketball. They've never been past the sweet sixteen and have only been to the Sweet Sixteen three times. Nobody cares about baseball, track or softball. I'll give you academics but everybody knows the SEC has never put great emphasis on improving their academics. As for the rivalry part, we'll see about. Texas A&M needs to start winning some games first. Since they've been in the Big 12, Texas A&M is 39th among Division 1-A programs in winning percentage behind the likes of Arkansas and Texas Tech.

Within 6 years, Texas A&M will be contending for SEC Championships in football and baseball - not to mention taking over Track and Field immediately.

All this talk of aTm sucking...maybe just the first few years.

They have a huge fan base with just as much money - or more - as big SEC schools, they are in the 2nd largest state in between Houston and Dallas to pull from - and fine facilities.

They've had all those advantages for years and it's gotten them a whopping six top 10 finishes in the last 50 years. Forgive me for not being impressed.

Hopefully. Stick em in the East with Florida.

I tend to think A&M's recruiting is gonna pick up if this is true. Texas kids can go to Texas and play in a shitty conference, or go to A&M and play in the SEC.

Love it. I grew up in the seventies and loved playing Texas A &M and then was so glad that Brodhead renewed the rivalry and believed that Bertman shouldnt have gotten out of the contract eventhought the Aggies started getting the best of us under Hallman and at first Dinardo. Anyway, for me , i hope its true and will be some great games not only for LSU but for the rest of the SEC. Welcome Aggies if it holds true.

Bench why do you care if they can't get their shitte together?

What this means for LSU- more money

what this means for Bama- more money

those fools watch and support with 6 top 10 finishes in 50 years...we'll kick their arse and take their lunch money

While many on here don't particularly like A&M, is there any school that is a better fit for the SEC? No.

Yeah there's actually a couple of schools located in the "south east". FSU and Miami for starters.

Miami's athletic programs are in pretty poor shape and will remain that way as long as Shalayla is their president.

aTm is not a great addition to the SEC. I'm laughing at those rantards looking forward to road trips to College Station. The SEC hasn't seen a fanbase with this large of an unsubstantiated ego, ever. They'll come in and try to run (unsuccessfully) the SEC (TX isn't there to bully them). They have guy cheerleaders. They're weirdos.

The new will wear off very quickly with aTm.

There are rumors that there is an alliance between GA, USC, and UF to keep Clemson, GA tech, and FSU out of the SEC.

FSU had their chance, now they can go fk themselves.

I'm very excited about this, unless we get the criminoles or da U.
