Because some of us like awesome coaches. Some don't though, hence this thread.

A guy who isn't very likable, has rubbed everyone the wrong way in Philly (players and front office), whose style will have to be adjusted to compete in the SEC, and a guy who has never really cared about defense (see their defense this season).

Jimbo is a much better hire than Kelly. And Jimbo will be the guy.

LMAO

I actually used to think you were a decent poster. This post right here is absolutely absurd. There is no guarantee on any coach that comes here....but I'll take my chances with a innovator like chip Kelly when he can get the kind of talent he can get at LSU.....throw in a good defensive coordinator....you are confused with chip at Oregon and chip here. The talent was not nearly the same.

He really made some boneheaded personnel decisions in Philly. Got rid of their best players and brought in " his guys" who have been absolutely horrible.

I don't necessarily think he would be the best fit for LSU, but I'm not sure I understand what you are referring to.

He is 46-7 as a college head coach and was 33-3 in conference play. He had three top-10 finishes, three conference titles, and played in one of the marquee bowls (the former BCS 4) in each season.

His offense set FBS records and he has produced multiple All-Conference or All-American college quarterbacks.

If he could ever adopt his offense to fit the power concepts that Meyer and Malzahn run in their spread-option attack, then he would be nearly unstoppable.

Was fired in the NFL before his stint at USC.

His first two years he had double digit wins. He did much better in the NFL than Saban did.

his teams in college were stellar but he never won a natty

Neither did Saban when we hired him. Neither did Miles when we hired him.

He's an elite coach. He wasn't coaching and failed at Bama or Ohio State. He was elite at Oregon, that has basically no elite in state recruits.

Bc he's f*cking awesome? He wins? Speed, tons of points, plays to his teams strengths?

Chip Kelly would be fine if he had the right personnel on his team.

Sanchez? Bradford? Murray?

They got rid of McCoy, Maclin, and Jackson.

That is why they suck now. Should have kept all 3 of those guys and Foles. They would be a lot better.

So his style won ten games, in the NFL, the last 2 years, but will have to be adjusted for the sec

I would be down to have Chip Kelly, but my biggest problem about him is nearly every season he's coached, his defenses have not been good. Doesn't seem like a great trade-off if we have elite offenses but pair it with mediocre defenses. That's my concern.

List all the coaches that have won 10+ games in each of their first two seasons in the NFL

how do you know he will get the kind of talent we have now?

I think you are. He will have to tweak his style from Oregon. Almost all of their losses at Oregon they got dominated up front in the trenches. But he's gonna be the guy who beats Alabama? That's what we care about, right?

Chip Kelly could be fired 2 weeks from today.

If they lose to Detroit, they'll get killed by New England the following weekend, and that'll be it.

Serious question, no flaming. Just don't really understand the confidence in that hire. He isn't really lighting it up in the NFL right now and his teams in college were stellar but he never won a natty. Not trying to be a Jimbo homer but I just see him as a better target even if he may be impossible to snag.

It's pretty dumb to question to quality of hire that Chip Kelly would be.

That doesn't mean he's the only quality hire...or that Kelly is CLEARLY the best hire if you literally had your pick of the litter.

But, you don't just choose the coach you want. There has to be mutual interest, timing has to be right, etc. If the end of this search ended with Chip Kelly, you better get on your knees and be thankful.

No one is really sure how Chip will recruit, especially in the South.

I'd say we have a much better idea of the talent Jimbo would bring in. Just a much safer higher, but also a big-name guy that can win big.
