Why do you need somebody likable?

Give me a disciplined a-hole any day of the week.

Go be a fan of Clemson and watch Dabo be a likeable a-hole that does the whip after each game

Well, that was before he had a chance to get rid of all of the playmakers that helped him get those wins.

You don't have to be likable.

But see Bo Pelini, Lane Kiffin, etc.

If you aren't likable and things aren't going well, your approval with people can go south a lot quicker.

If he could ever adopt his offense to fit the power concepts that Meyer and Malzahn run in their spread-option attack, then he would be nearly unstoppable.

This is the thing....these guys can't see past this. He is very innovative....and would absolutely adapt to the talent that he has. He didn't have that talent at Oregon...how many Oregon guys actually went on the NFL and made it? Seriously.

They say "he couldn't win the nc"....this is seriously kids that have zero big picture reasoning skills and very little wisdom.

I don't think LSU gets him...and unless I'm reading the signs wrong, it looks like Herman. Honestly..... I am VERY skeptical of that hire.

I just don't get the anti Kelly stuff because he couldn't beat a few teams with the limited talent he had....it's just very small minded thinking that he wouldn't adjust with the talent around him.

He isn't really lighting it up in the NFL right now

He had back to back 10 win seasons with Nick Foles and Mark Sanchez.

his teams in college were stellar but he never won a natty

He coached at Oregon which has no built in recruiting advantage, stadium that seats 60,000 and a program that arguably didn't play football before 1995

Not trying to be a Jimbo homer but I just see him as a better target even if he may be impossible to snag.

He arguably could be a better target, but he isn't a slam dunk over Kelly even if you favor pro style

Progressive offense. Problem is he couldn't get the big uns in the front. Well we don't have that problem here. If he can recruit and I think he can, that that will solve itself. Just promote O to DC and let him run that side. You promote Frank Wilson to OC and let him learn under Chip. I prefer Jimbo over Chip, but wouldn't be made at that hire.

Sorry but Chip Kelly is in an entirely other stratosphere than Bo Pelini and Lane Kiffin.

You know what does help your approval rating? Winning, which is something Kelly did plenty of.

Wow. So Chip freaking Kelly isn't good enough for you? you wanna dig up Vince Lombardi? No, he's too conservative and old school.

Chip Kelly won. Period. Ask around the coaching profession and you'll see that Chip is among the smartest, if not the smartest, coach out there. His style might not work in the NFL long term because he is into 360 degree total control which doesn't work with grown men like college kids. Meaning he is big into nutritionally balanced meals, specific workouts, etc.

Everyone's big complaint about Les is his stubborn adherance to his style of football. Chip will go fast, but his style? It would fit the players.

Put Chip's (3-4 star btw) skill guys with Houston to Mobile I10 offense and defense lines and watch what happens.

This hire would be as big IMO as Bama lucking out on the timing with Saban. The man is an elite coach.

Serious question, no flaming.

Seriously,

Who would want someone with a 46-7 CFB record and a 24-18 NFL record?

Crazy talk

I agree.

Kelly's a bit of a shitbag but it seems to me that everything else is secondary to beating Bama, being in the national conversation well into Nov and having an exciting product on the field. Chip Kelly will check those boxes if hired back into the college game.
