LSU fans watch LSU Saturdays and Saints on Sundays. They have blue balls for a competent passing game and will sacrifice anything else for it.

I would be down to have Chip Kelly, but my biggest problem about him is nearly every season he's coached, his defenses have not been good. Doesn't seem like a great trade-off if we have elite offenses but pair it with mediocre defenses. That's my concern.

His defense is more than adequate when you consider the offense he runs. The defense will be on the field more because the opposing team offense will have way more possessions than LSU currently allows.

Lets look at the 2009 to 2012 seasons and see how they compare to LSU's offense and defense

Oregon's Total Offense and Total Defense ranks:

2009: 35th ranked defense / 33rd ranked offense
2010: 34th ranked defense / 1st ranked offense
2011: 67th ranked defense / 4th ranked offense
2012: 44th ranked defense / 5th ranked offense

Average: 45th ranked defense and 11th ranked offense

LSU's Total Offense and Total Defense ranks:

2009: 26th ranked defense / 112th ranked offense
2010: 12th ranked defense / 86th ranked offense
2011: 2nd ranked defense / 73rd ranked offense
2012: 8th ranked defense / 85th ranked offense

Average: 12th ranked defense and 89th ranked offense

So their offense is just as good as our defense was in those years, but their defense was twice as good as our offense....if that makes sense

Now look at total yards gained and given up per game:

Oregon's Total Offense and Total Defense Yards Per Game:

2009: 336 yards / 412 yards - (difference of +76 yards)
2010: 346 yards / 531 yards - (difference of +185 yards)
2011: 390 yards / 522 yards - (difference of +132 yards)
2012: 374 yards / 537 yards - (difference of +163 yards)

Average: 361 yards / 501 yards - (difference of +140 yards)

LSU's Total Offense and Total Defense Yards Per Game:

2009: 328 yards / 305 yards - (difference of -23 yards)
2010: 307 yards / 341 yards - (difference of +34 yards)
2011: 252 yards / 375 yards - (difference of +123 yards)
2012: 308 yards / 374 yards - (difference of +66 yards)

Average: 299 yards / 349 yards - (difference of +50 yards)

So their shitty defense gives up 62 more yards per game than LSU did, but their offense gained 152 more yards a game than our offense did, so the offense more than made up for that.

And here is scoring offense and scoring defense:

Oregon's Scoring Offense and Scoring Defense:

2009: 36 points / 24 points - (difference of 12 points)
2010: 47 points / 19 points - (difference of 28 points)
2011: 46 points / 25 points - (difference of 21 points)
2012: 50 points / 22 points - (difference of 28 points)

Average: 45 points / 23 points - (difference of 22 points)

LSU's Scoring Offense and Scoring Defense:

2009: 25 points / 16 points - (difference of 9 points)
2010: 30 points / 18 points - (difference of 12 points)
2011: 39 points / 11 points - (difference of 28 points)
2012: 30 points / 18 points - (difference of 12 points)

Average: 31 points / 16 points - (difference of 15 points)

So look at the one year that LSU had similar numbers to Oregon in yardage and points difference....2011

Didn't Miles beat Kelly is a tired argument. Look up our independence bowl just before we hired Saban. It was against Michigan State. Who was their coach? Hmm...

Can't take someone serious who's just a hater and has been.

I do get a good laugh though.

You are the one who needs to do some research. Of course with blinders on you can't see the truth.

I think there are good questions as to what kind of fit Chip would be in the SEC, but that said if you have the chance to get him you have to do it.

This has to be the dumbest question in the history of the rant. Lsu beat them in 2011 which was a pretty special team despite the beat down in the NC game. He won at Oregon do you realize the talent coming out of the state of Oregon is basically zero. He won 10 games in his first 2 seasons of the nfl which is very successful but this year has been a struggle they are 4-6 still as good as the saints and better than the Cowboys. No way we get him I just don't think he's interested in going to the college game and if he does I think he's more likely to end up at USC but if we could get him you couldn't slap the smile off my face

Kelly & the Ducks parted ways very very mutually. He hated/s the non coaching responsibilities of being a college football coach & was constantly having issues with the administration and major boosters. He also tired of the whole recruiting process in college football. All this was well documented in several national sports magazines when he was hired in Philly. As much as he won, the Ducks were glad to see him finally leave. And a lot of his wins were against a very weak PAC 12 conference. If CLM is a great family man & loved by his players, Kelly is the polar opposite in both regards. LSU can do better.

Yeah Kelly is very open about hating recruiting and dealing with boosters/university admins.

First, I'm thinking Miles is probably gone after A & M, to which I say to all of you who wanted him gone ....OK you got what you asked for, now reap the whirlwind and become Nebraska mired in mediocrity.

Second, since Miles is gone, nothing short of a Jimbo Fisher will satisfy you....why Fisher? He's a good coach, but he ain't all that and a bag of chips. He's ethically challenged -see Jameis Winston.

Third - why all this hate for Chip Kelly? You want a dynamic offense? Kelly gives you a dynamic offense. His defenses were not all that bad at Oregon ranking anywhere between 25th and 52nd. His offenses routinely ranked in the top 10.

Maybe it's butt-love for Fisher.

I hate this dumb meme, as if the only options are 1) Keep Miles or 2) Be mediocre.

How about we upgrade?

News Flash: Miles isn't that good of a coach. He can be upgraded.

Les has never been a head coach in the NFL. With his offense the players would learn to hate him.

The NFL is a business. I don't care who likes him but his players in college loved him. It's absolutely ridiculous you say all this as fact. Like you know, you really don't know.
