I think it may be someone from within LSU now...

Mallory Maybe...

Im almost 100% it will be

1) Someone within LSU being promoted to D-Coord
2) Tenuta

I'm guessing toward the promotion right now from what I hear

Don't think so at all...I think its more of the fact that if he doesn't start promoting "his" guys and keep bringing in new, they will get frustrated and look to go elsewhere. Don't panic, if he hires someone within that means he has complete faith in them.

He better be right. Hiring the wrong coordinators was Dinardo's downfall.

Belowpar, I still think he hires from outside....if he were to be a "promote from within" kind of guy, I would expect to have seen that when he hired the OC a year ago.

At least that is what I hope.

I mean nothing is final...There is no deal either way...I can tell you that for sure...

We shall see what happens.

I hear ya...I am just trying to convince myself, really.

Also, if he were hiring from within, I don't see why there would need to be a delay in making that public...unless this is a recent development as Tenuta, or some other candidate, has pulled back on wanting the job.

the delay is just Coach trying to decide himself on what he wants to do.

Send him a memo instructing him to slide a blank check towards Tenuta.

I doubt Miles hires from with-in. If Tenuta wants the job and is better that what LSU currently has on staff, Miles should go with Tenuta.

Now that Miles contract has been extended he can take more chances.

I keep remembering last year. Everyone was convinced he would promote Monken and then out of no where comes Crowton.

Les is not a defensive guy so it makes is even more likely he would go outside and grab the best guy available.

Promoting unworthy assistants just so they don't leave is a terrible idea on so many levels. If mallory gets pissed and leaves it'd take less than a week to replace him

Only DC experience was at Western Ky. Comes from a coaching family. Dad was Indiana's coach and his brothers coach college as well.

Coaching Experience
1988 Indiana (graduate assistant)
1989 Army (offensive line)
1990-93 Western Kentucky (defensive coordinator, 1992-93; secondary, inside linebackers, special teams, 1990-91)
1994-96 Indiana (defensive backs, special teams)
1997-2000 Maryland (secondary)
2001-04 Oklahoma State (secondary)
2005- LSU (defensive backs)

And btw, he's from Ohio and he played for Michigan. He's Miles' kinda guy.

if Les were a defensive guy I could understand him promoting from within, but since he basically leaves the D alone he needs to go out and get a good experienced coach. This isn't Doug Mallory. Maybe he'll be a good DC maybe he won't, but LSU isn't in a position to where they have to take that kind of gamble.
