Is it how bad LSU looked against the only teams on the schedule with a pulse?

Is it how he flamed out at Ole Miss?

I'll hang up and listen.

What, it's a legit question

Apparently nobody read the body of my post, I'm just interested at other people's reasoning for not having him as the first choice. I'm in for Herman fwiw.

My argument is that the first quality listed for him is:

He will stay out of the assistant coaches way.

So what are we hiring him for?

My argument against Coach O is that the only argument FOR Orgeron is if he can keep Aranda and hire an elite OC. If Orgeron can only succeed is we have one of the best OCs and DCs in the country, then Orgeron isn't the guy.

It's definitely the way he flamed out at OM and it's that he represents the status quo. He's essentially Miles.

There is so many reasons. Wait until I'm sober and I'll bump in this and tear you a new one

This is like someone saying Brady is a system QB. That is how invested I am into this logic

Isn't he 12-4 in his games as interim coach?

10-14 against 9-4 ND when @USC

14-35 against 10-3 when @USC

0-10 against Bama when @LSU

10-16 agaisnt UF when @UF

See a trend? ....

I love Coach O. He has done a great job at LSU since he stepped on campus and since being named Interim HC.

However, the skill set required to step in and take over a team and program that someone else built is a different skill set that is required to build a program, make the right hires, devise the right schemes, recruit and sign the right players and right mix of players.

At LSU and USC he took over:

A program that someone else made every coaching hire.

A program that someone else decided on offensive and defensive scheme. (Realize that we kept the Miles\Cam scheme and terminology and playbook.)

A program that someone else ultimately made the call on every athlete that was offerered and every offer that was accepted.

A program that someone else made every administrative/support hire.

It is difficult to step in and manage a program/team/staff that someone else built. That requires a set of skills that are special and very valuable.

However they are not the same set of skills required to actually build, hire, recruit a successful team and program.

Perhaps O has these skills too. Perhaps his record as the actual HC at OM where HE hired the staff, HE designed the scheme and HE recruited and decided what offers to make and accept is not proof he will not be a great HC.

What I think folks should consider is that having success as an Interim isn't proof that he will be.
