UF was in full derp fest. LSU has an estiblished coach. UF, when stable, will get the pick of their instate recruits. You guy are delilusional if you think UF an LSU are equal. And I think LSU is a great job.

Lets take a look at where the top 42 recruits in florida went shall we. since you left that out

Florida got 6

Lsu got 3

Again, more data points would help here.

I am leaving the office so I can't do this, but if you want to see real trends, look up the 4* and 5* recruits for each state for the last 20 years. Then look up where they all went.

Florida is the school in that state. Miami fans are a small sliver in the bottom and FSU is the panhandle. The rest, which is almost the whole thing, is UF When Florida is good or has momentum (which hiring a new coach does) they get whoever they want out of that state. Florida is probably the best state in the country for High School talent.

So we have a 50/50 chance. Im a gambling man and those odds are hard to turn down

You bet on a 50/50 chance? Damn man you must lose a lot of money. Most real gamblers prefer the odds be way more in their favor. 50/50 means that you never win, only break even.

They had no business trying their luck on a coordinator for sure.

You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. Find a game in the Casino where you have 50/50 odds

up there with USC and Texas

Texas shoukd be the runaway #1 job in college football but meddling prima donna donors, legislators, and governors knock them down to borderline top ten. That's not even counting the most delusional fanbase in sports. I think top coaches look at Texas and shudder.

But as to the original question, I'd give the Florida job a slight, slight edge over LSU most years. But LSU has the talent to compete for NCs the next two years. FL will be back but not next year.

Good post. Fans who haven't been through a coaching change in a while forget how much of a crapshoot they can be. The Urban Meyer to OSU and Saban to Bama type sure things rarely happen and it has to be a perfect set of circumstances.

Fans see the green grass on the other side and often forget how bad things can get if they frick up a HC hire

I don't think UF is a much better destination at all. They have inferior facilities to us. They don't even have a IPF. The salaries are going to be a wash. Recruiting, yea Florida has better prospects but they share with 2 other instate powers. Once we get North LA back under control we have the state to ourselves for the most part. Im just not seeing how UF is better job wise?

salary wash, recruiting lands wash, Facilities major check for LSU.

exactly. You don't let someone like Miles walk. You let him retire and hand the rains over to someone else when you know about it ahead of time and can line up candidates.

UF is a premier top 5 job. Whether LSU is or isn't, the OP's point is still valid. Hiring a coach require changing an entire culture, and overhauling a lot of moving parts and that is always a crap shoot.
