Interesting that you have ND at No. 4. Because Meyer chose UF over ND just a few years ago.

And ND is Meyer's supposed dream job.

Nope!

They are maybe top 5 in the SEC, but they are nowhere near a top 3 overall coaching job.

No. It isn't.

Without even thinking about it.

Bama
Texas
USC
Notre Dame

All above Florida.

Notre Dame isn't top 10 anymore.

They can't take all the best players because of academic restrictions and don't have elite facilities. HS kids do not care about Lou Holtz or Knute Rockne days.

That is an excuse. But we wont get into that. Schools like Notre Dame, Tennessee, Nebraska, and possibly even Michigan will never be dominant again. They were dominant programs in an era where they were one of only a few schools that went all in for football. They were the only teams willing to spend the money, and the only schools constantly on tv. Now that there are 20-30ish teams willing to do this, and everyone is on tv, the schools that are going to be consistently good are the ones with natural recruiting advantages. Bama, Lsu, Uf, Texas schools, california schools, Ohio st. etc

Not for Notre Dame.

Thats legit.

But your other points are spot on. ND is not an elite coaching job anymore IMO, that was the main point of my previous post.

I disagree completely. I do not see how you consider UF better than LSU

Money: Nope

History: Triple nope

Florida Endowment: $1.360 billion
LSU Endowment: about $700 million

Florida All-Time Wins: 690
LSU All-Time Wins: 762

Florida National Titles: 3 (1996, 2006, 2008)
LSU National Titles: 3 (1958, 2003, 2007)

Florida All-Time Bowl Record: 20-20
LSU All-Time Bowl Record: 20-20

It's not nearly as clear-cut as you think. Florida could easily pony up and out muscle LSU if they wanted to. Keep in mind that Florida has that bloated of an athletic budget while still remaining a top 100 university nationally.

Texas $146,807,585
Wisconsin $146,659,187
Michigan $131,018,311
Alabama $116,607,913
Ohio State $116,026,329
Penn State $110,737,200
Tennessee $110,269,194
Florida $106,972,983
Iowa $106,969,227
LSU $105,312,018

Top Athletic Budgets in the NCAA

conferences that allow shady recruiting have a bit of an edge as well. Over signing anyone?

If that is the case UF isn't top 5 because their facilities suck.

Seems like all these programs are so close as far as jobs an extra million in pay here or a better locker room there makes the difference.

Muschamp was a good hire for Florida, that didn't pan out for a number of reasons. I honestly wouldn't doubt it if he's a successful HC in 3-5 years from now somewhere else.

LSU / Alabama / ole miss etc.. take 10 guys every season that would not get in to Michigan. We also have to explain to the board of directors for the big ten if we cut a guy and replace him. We dont get to remove our mistakes like taking them out back and dumping them aka the saban method. You can say it doesnt matter etc.. but Alabama gets an extra 25 recruits every 5 years pulling that crap thats a whole recruiting class.. It definitely matters.

They might not be dominant again but one good coaching hire and any of those programs can cycle up the food chain, just like any of the top 30-ish programs you mention.

Every Juco transfer that goes to any sec school would not get in to michigan. The academic standards for the NCAA clearinghouse is lower than the admission standards for michigan.

Same with LSU and Bama. But for football players, NCAA clearinghouse is all that matters.
