Gary Patterson @ TCU is the best match for LSU.

and considering he's about to sign a long term contract it makes perfect sense.

he isn't CLEARLY changing anything. Crowton is 100% calling the plays whether you want to believe it or not

honestly, I think Miles should call the plays. OSU's offense did all right whenever he had those duties

the guy had a coach in waiting contract at FSU. He didn't run him off, the guy got a better job

How else do you explain all of the delay of games/wasted time-outs to avoid? That crap has been going on un-checked since Miles got here. Jimbo was even heard clearly on the TV broadcast in the Arky game screaming something to the effect of run the f---ing play I called.

How does Crowton get blamed for the short-side options? I never saw him run that with Dennis Dixon or at LA Tech.

I DO believe that we need an OC who has strong QB development skills but Miles ran one off already in his first year.

any of you guys ever think that crowton's offense might be a little more exciting and effective with a QB who can remember all of the plays. It seemed to be pretty potent 2 years ago.

I find it funny that no one ever really wants to talk about this.

The team succeeds as the QB succeeds.

that we can look forward to a good offense every 3-4 years under crowton once someone "masters" the playbook? Yea funny no one uses that to defend him.....

I agree with this. And just because Crowton sucked this year doesn't mean he's going to suck next year. Clearly, he is capable of being very good, because he has been as recently as '07. And with a JR QB in his 3rd year in the system, Crowton could be very good as soon as next year. The reason I want him gone, though, is because he also seems incapable of adjusting to inexperienced QBs. And that shite is going to happen occasionally. I'm not prepared to forfeit every season we don't have a JR or SR ready to play. He's just not in LSU's best long-term interest imho. But if he happens to come back, I'm sure not throwing in the towel for '10 like most of these cocksuckers on here.

Roaad, you have stumbled on something noone brings up; availability. if miles leaves, we can only hire people that are available and that we can afford to make available. you, however, seem to not know how things work. if kelly turns down ND, you seem to think he will not turn LSU down a year later. you want miles gone so bad, you are willing to roll the dice and go to the "market" w/o really knowing who we CAN get. if we get rid of coach miles, we may very well find ourselves screwed. why don't you just sit back, stfu and give our coach a chance to get this program back to top 5. whether you believe it or not, les miles is one of the better HC's in college football overall and he has won a NC, something that very few coaches have done. he won it in his 3rd yr at LSU; if saban wins it this year, he will have done it in his 3rd yr. don't give me this shite that miles won it with sabans players unless you concede that saban did also.

Jefferson has been in the system just over a year. Lee was in it for about the same.

Link to a team with an inexperienced QB that is successful? LSU hasn't had an experienced QB since Flynn. Lee? Terrible year. Jefferson. In the system for a year and a half.

Learning the playbook is the QB's responsibility. I understand "the coaches are responsible for getting the plays in!" but how many times did we see Jefferson confused as frick on the field?

Again, don't take me for wanting to keep Crowton because frick him after the Ole Miss debacle and trying to pass 3 straight times in FG range, but it's not solely on him. Did he really forget how to run an offense? He was successful before......what happened? He lost a QB that can run his offense and hasn't had one since.

I can't stand an argument where it's ALL on the coaches. The players deserve criticism as well. Why is it the coaches fault if the player fails to execute.

I agree that the blame should be should be shared, but the offense didn't look any better as the season went along. That is unacceptable, and we need a new OC. 2 years of excuses for having a totally inept offense is bullshite.

I don't think it's as much learning the playbook, per se, as it is thinking like Crowton thinks...i.e. seeing and making the intricate reads, understanding what is going to happen before it happens., etc., etc. This is why Weurful was so effective with Spurrier, even though he had marginal physical skills. Crowton has shown virtually no ability to adapt when this isn't the case for most of his career.
