If Bill Martin really wants him still, they have a chance. He could tell him that he will never have another chance to come to UM. And they could offer to match the salary at LSU, which they are willing to do now. UM has announced they would pay close to 3 mil a year for a big time coach.

I really dont think it is over until he signs

Except, Bill Martin himself said Miles is no longer a candidate. As far as what I have seen from these Michigan fans posting here, Martin's word is usually pretty solid.

I believe that were to slow in our processes. Plus we promised LSU we wouldn't talk to Miles until after the SECCG. I just don't get how ESPN ran with such a shite story.

Coming from as CLOSE to the source as I can get...So I can't say this is 100% by any means like I can about other stuff.

I have my doubts on this one, but it comes from really close to the situation. Soooo take it for what its worth.

Michigan is caught in a time warp. The sport and its coaching/business side have passed them by. They have not gone out on the market to hire a coach in a long long time, and like ND, they thought they could just choose anyone they wanted because...well..they are Michigan and no right thinking person would choose LSU over Michigan. But that is EXACTLY what happened. It is obvious that the public version is true if you follow all of this carefully. Now, the Michigan people are really stumped by all of this. I mean..we are Michigan and you are not so there must be some dirty reason why someone would have chosen LSU over Michigan. So they buy into this bs about how Miles was coerced into taking LSU. There is no evidence whatsoever that this was the case.

Something that has occurred to me is maybe this was all a setup orchestrated by Les Miles and LSU. He may have known that he wasn't a serious candidate for the UM job (because of the Carr faction, that UM had already made a deal with someone else, whatever). So he and/or LSU sets up Herbie to break the story on game day, Les, Skip, and O'keefe have a dog and pony show press conference for the benefit of the players and fans. Les publicly takes himself out of the running for the UM job instead of UM taking him out of the running. Les and LSU save face.

Michigan agreed to not contact him until AFTER the SECCG...The above statement is ridiculous.

Not saying it's factual in any way, so maybe I am kidding. Just a scenario that crossed my mind. I don't have all the """inside sources""" that you supposedly have. Most probaly is ridiculous, but if I had predicted last weekends intrique, that also would have been labeled ridiculous.

double, he doesnt have inside sources....he is the source. He is Skip's and Vince's and Bill's and Miles and Miles' agent's right hand man.

Everything I see shows Carr/MSC trying their best to get Ferentz even though it seems everyone else wants miles.

Simply nutz....bet we end up with ferentz

Ferentz is in with the good ole boys network, and as I understand it, Carr wanted one of his assistants (R. English) or Ferentz, and was definitely in the anti-Miles camp.

If Ferentz is back in the mix (and it appears he is) then it's obvious that Miles was their second choice, and their short list only had two guys on it. If Kelly, or Butch Davis or another name doesn't emerge quickly, then I will start to get nervous.

Having said that, if you look at Miles' public statements, he has shut the door to coaching at Michigan. I don't see how he could go, now.

The only things I take issue with are:

1. The herbstreet prank call bit: I know you have a source but i think that is bull. It would have been very easy to back off that morning after an easy conversation with Howard himself. It is as simple as " have talked again to my sources and things are different now" or some other such story...no reason for the credibility hit he has taken.

2. "I am the source. No second hand info" That would mean you are O'Keefe, Lombardi, Bertman, Miles, Miles agent, or Bill Martin. Otherwise you are getting 2nd hand info. I am not doubting your info at all. I am just doubting that statement.

I was just giving them a hard time on the 2nd statement...No I am not one of those people.

On the first one trust me...I don't know if I believe it..I confirmed it with the source a few times.

So thats why I say take that one with a grain of salt.

Please don't trash me on this I'm just venting. I've wanted Miles here at Michigan long before the media hype. Nothing against the LSU nation but Miles was born to coach Michigan. To see how this was handled by the U of M administration is just torture. To do this to anyone and especially of our own is just incomprehensible.

I have bled blue my entire life and right now I can't stand Michigan... Les I don't blame you for hating us...

Les Crush OSU, Carr certainly can't
