there was no ultimatum...

I don't see why you people keep making things up...Do you NOT understand there was NEVER an offer from MICHIGAN...

What ultimatum would there possibly be? Are you staying here at LSU or are you going to hope Michigan wants you...

COME ON GUYS, let it rest, HE NOR HIS AGENT NEVER talked to anyong affiliate with MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY.

Bill Martin called his agent Sunday morning but all he said was that Miles had been in the "pool of candidates, but he was happy Les got the deal he wanted"

That was the ONLY conversation had between Miles' people and anyone with MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY.

This is not true. The real story will break out sooner or later.

yes it is zeedustin

Keep thinking that...

Why in the hell would there be articles everywhere right now about how Bill Martin was completely out of touch from everyone, because he was off sailing...

Is this made up too??

I guess so according to you.

Bill Martin is the entire UM department you speak of? There are others who have the ability to contact Miles or his agent.

Skip giving Les a ultimatum on his job is BULL shite!!! This is another way the shite heads at UM can feel better about them selfs since there AD well for lack of a better term frickED UP... I'm sure Les would loved to have his dream job. But if your AD out sailing his little tug boat in his bath tub and not picking up the phone when the school is in need of a head couch then boo hoo for you. Now there back tracking trying to make it look like L.S.U screwed them over. Go cry to another crowd because I'm not buying this story.

OH and by the way you don't need permission to talk to anyone but a head couch. So T.O. asking to talk to Bo was just to be nice but was not needed.Just so this yahoo that wrote this crock of crap knows.

You dont think that Martin might have went off sailing or wherever he went with no intentions to talk to anyone because he was almost certain Miles to UM was a done deal?

You dont know for a fact if it is certain that UM got in contact with Miles or his agent. A story will break about all of this.

It is pointless to argue with this asshat. There are many gems that he posted over the last week. For example:

Yea I wrote done deal in the Spurrier thread. It is a done deal on our end. Spurrier needs to accept it. If he doesn Jack is our next coach.

once again, I, like Kirk was gievn info we thought were correct. I still think if Kirk or anyone doesnt leak this out on ESPN or any other major media, Les would have left Monday. Give credit to LSU for making a quick strike.

This Bertman forcing Miles to make a decision doesn't make any sense.

If, according to you ZeeDustin, a deal was done and Miles would have left on Monday, then why in the hell doesn't he leave for his alma mater when Bertman gives him this "ulitimatum".

Answer? Because there was never a deal with Michigan and there was never an "ultimatum".

LSU gave Miles three contracts to choose from:

1) agree to before the SECCG, the most money and years

2) agree to after a SECCG win, less money than offer #1

3) agree to after a SECCG loss, less money than offer #2

On Friday night Miles agreed to the first contract offer.

COLUMNIST: Les Miles says stay, but will he pull a Saban and go?

December 2, 2007

By Teddy Greenstein

Chicago Tribune

A year ago, Nick Saban announced, “I’m not going to be the Alabama coach.”

Well, at least he’s not the Alabama basketball coach.

If Les Miles somehow appears on the Michigan Stadium sideline next season, Saban will have company in the liars club.

Just two hours after ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit reported that Miles had accepted an offer to become Michigan’s football coach, Miles called that “misinformation” and announced he would remain in Baton Rouge.

“I’m the head coach at LSU,” Miles said. “I will be the head coach at LSU. I have no interest in talking to anybody else.”

He was even more definitive in an interview with CBS before the Southeastern Conference title game, saying he “absolutely” would be LSU’s head coach next year.

Big Ten Network analyst Gerry DiNardo reported that to keep Miles, LSU offered him three contracts with different values: one he could sign before the SEC title game, a second if his Tigers won the game, a third if they lost.

“A stroke of genius,” said DiNardo, a former LSU and Indiana coach.

Miles opted for security, and the most lucrative contract of the three, in Door No. 1.

But is his public romance with Michigan really over?

LSU reported on its Web site that Miles, after accepting the long-term deal, would not “entertain any offer from the University of Michigan.”

Herbstreit is not so sure. Later on ESPN, he said LSU had two reasons for the press conference:

“They’re tired of hearing about Michigan, and they had a beating-Michigan-to-the-punch opportunity and took it.”

Or “Using it as a bit of a smoke screen . . . to take care of business in the SEC championship game and then see where they might be.

“This saga shall continue,” Herbstreit said.

LSU spokesman Herb Vincent acknowledged that nothing has been signed on Miles’ extension.

If Miles does something to escape the deal, Vincent told CBS, that would be “extremely unfaithful.”

Only Saban would be proud.

No way does Miles pull a 180 and go to Michigan to be compared to Saban for the rest of life.

There was not 3 different contract offers.

There was 1.

You people gotta realize the clauses in his current contract already were going to give him a raise.

win 10 games get paid no less than 5th highest in SEC
win SEC get paid no less than 3rd highest in SEC
win Natl Champ get paid no less than 3rd highest in NCAA

Those clauses are still in there.
