Yeah, according to Maleficent, the only true love exists between a mother and her child. Fathers are apparently fricked out of this deal. It's some real fembot shite.

That's ripped out of the extreme feminist book

Right next to the chapter about how every sexual encounter is rape by definition (saw that one on the OT a couple weeks ago and wish I didn't)

So I've just had a thought that seems pretty obvious in retrospect: Does anyone else think Stannis suffers from autism, and a pretty bad case of it at that? These are all the signs, and I think Stannis meets about 5 out of 6 of them. I highlighted the ones Stannis is not confirmed to have had:

quote:

Early Life:
Not respond to their name (the child may appear deaf)
Not point at objects or things of interest, or demonstrate interest
Not play “pretend” games
Avoid eye contact
Want to be alone
Have difficulty understanding, or showing understanding, or other people’s feelings or their own
Have no speech or delayed speech
Repeat words or phrases over and over (echolalia)
Give unrelated answers to questions
Get upset by minor changes
Have obsessive interests
Flap their hands, rock their body, or spin in circles
Have unusual reactions (over or under-sensitivity) to the way things sound, smell, taste, look, or feel
Have low to no social skills
Avoid or resist physical contact
Demonstrate little safety or danger awareness
Reverse pronouns (e.g., says “you” instead of “I”)
Gives unrelated answers to questions
Have unusual interests and behaviors
Have extreme anxiety and phobias, as well as unusual phobias
Line up toys or other objects
Play with toys the same way every time
Like parts of objects (e.g., wheels)
Become upset by minor changes

Other Later signs:
Hyperactivity (very active)
Impulsivity (acting without thinking)
Short attention span
Aggression
Causing self injury
Meltdowns
Unusual eating and sleeping habits
Unusual mood or emotional reactions
Lack of fear or more fear than expected
Have unusual sleeping habits

He seems to have almost all the signs, and he could have feasibly done the other childhood things that I highlighted.

I don't think he's suffering anymore.

Interesting point though.

Anybody ever run into any crackpot theories about Gilly's baby?

I’ve sometimes entertained the beginnings of a theory that Gilly’s son could have some import in the series. I mean, as far as we know, the white walkers recruit new members exclusively from Craster’s sons. And I don’t think Craster’s place is geographically that convenient to the “land of always winter”. Maybe there is something in the bloodline of these boys?

Of course the weak point or at least one of them of this theory is that, barring some type of time jump, it doesn’t look like little Sam will be old enough to do much of anything by the end of the series.

Still, it would give Sam and Gilly some connection to the remaining story.

You just blew my f'n mind. I mean I've read the books but never would have picked up on that. I think I will do a re-read once Winds of Winter finally comes out and I finish it.
I was actually thinking earlier about how I would love some Varys POV chapters in the next books to finally get some answers on him.

Have you read the Grand Faceless Men theory? It involved Varys also

For some reason my browser keeps closing when I try to link it.

If you google Grand Faceless Men theory it's the first one. From asoiaf.westeros.org

I did a quick page search on it, and the word mermaid doesn't appear.

Theory is invalid.

Actually, after reading that, I think I may be autistic
autistic

Found this nugget on the WOW release date:

quote:

As Season 6 of the TV series will practically be anchored on “The Winds of Winter,” all eyes and ears are now on the release of the sixth book of the novel, which fans have been waiting for since last year.

Sorry, only a Hodor would say that.

Was reading a Reddit thread about tv show crossovers, and this idea occurred to me. And this is the best thread for this without starting a new one.

Would Dexter or Hannibal Lecter as a Faceless Man be the GOAT?

I don't think either would be. I think they are both into killing for their own reasons and would not follow the dictates of the order as the order interprets what they see as the will of the many faced god. Kind of for the same reason Arya will not make a Faceless Man in the long run.

Maybe a killer from one of those spy type movies where the spy/killer works as part of the organization and takes orders until they find out that the organization is either corrupt or is trying to eliminate them to tie up loose ends (or both).

Been saying this for years. But it's not limited to sexual encounters, most interaction is rape in some level.

Anyone else read the fat man's post on Not a Blog? Mentioned going to a wedding in August and meeting with his editors and publishers while he's in New Jersey. So I'm going to go ahead and convince myself he is done and turning it in come August. That would mean an ~ October-December release. Plenty of time for a couple of reads before Season 6 comes out.
