Anybody here made this crossing? Hoping to go in a few weeks on a 27' Monterey Cruiser. 50-ish miles.
Any tips?

50 or 5, it's all weather dependent in that size boat.

Thats a small boat to cross 50 miles of open Atlantic. Can certainly be done, but highly weather dependent.

Technically it’s 25 miles of open ocean because at 25 miles you start getting closer to land.

I’d look on hull truth of a south Florida forum OP. It’s not an abnormal trip.

ETA: but yeah you may be able to buddy boat with someone OP. I’d strongly look into that

My oldest brother does lighthouse point to Bimini in a 38’ pursuit frequently.

I've done it twice. Make sure to pick your day in a 27'er. Can easily be done if the weather is right but this time of year it can get nasty really quick.

There are tons of people on YouTube that do it on jet skis, I don’t see how a 27’ boat would have a problem. Just go on a day with good weather. I watched one yesterday, they went several hundred miles round trip thru the Bahamas/exumas all on jet skis from Miami

If you were leaving out of Boynton, the inlet would be the most dangerous part of the entire trip.

I'm running across on Sunday from Jupiter. Similar size boat. Watch the weather and you will be fine. A few musts...life raft, epirb, and a sat phone.

You can run it on a 12 ft flat with a 3-4 seas. Bring extra fuel, rations, Epirb, and rescue raft though.

It must be flat often enough if jet skis are doing it, 1-2s for 100 miles would be miserable on a jet ski and I’m not even old.
