I'm hiking the Portuguese Camino and will hopefully have 5 or so days after getting to Santiago to explore a little.

Would you hang out in northeast Spain or make a trip to Bordeaux France before flying home. Airfare same either way.

My wife loved Bordeaux. They did a walking tour of all the old downtown area, a river boat tour, and the Wine Museum (Cite Du Vin). Her and her sister really enjoyed this area of France and said the Wine Museum was great.

She doesn't remember the name now, but the steakhouse they went to there was one of the best food places she had ever been to.

You cant go wrong with the Basque Country or Bordeaux. It really matters what you're interested in. If you're more of a foodie I would personally recommend San Sebastian and the Basque region of Spain. If you want a more "bougie" Napa experience Bordeaux is your go to.

Thanks everyone.

Northern Spain looks incredible. I'll just play it by ear and do what feels fun at the time.

Did the Portuguese Coastal Camino (litoral)in 2022. Wonderful experience but after 13 or 14 days in Portugal and Spain, might be time for a change of scenery.

Did you book hostels ahead of time?

I might be ready for a change of scenery after. I'll just see how it goes. Always wanted to see Bordeaux so might still go.

No, went with wife, so we did the pre-booked hotels (not albergues) and luggage transfer service through an agency. I've looked at doing this myself but in some of the smaller villages with few hotels, it looks like the agencies have locked up all the rooms.

We tentatively have a return trip scheduled for May to do the French Way from Ponferrada. Looking at connecting a Mont St Michele and Normandy trip into it.

We hiked the Camino. Did Porto and Bordeaux. I recommend both. Bordeaux is fun, do a bike tour.

I am going in a few weeks and scheduled an E Bike ride through Bourg and Gironde. Is this the one you are talking about?

We took the train to Bourdeaux from Paris. Hopped in an Uber for a quick ride to Monsieur Bacchus Bicycle tours. There were only a few folks on our tour and had a blast. I think it was a 3 hour tour. You basically hit all the touristy spots and they give you the run down on the history. We ended up a fun cocktail/beer spot across the river from the city and all had a few drinks. Went back to the garage and dropped bikes off. Guide was amazing. Wealth of knowledge.
