What kinds of things do you nerd out on?

I’m usually a strictly sports guy. I collect the cards and memorabilia, go to games be it football, baseball, basketball, hockey. I love finding the old venues or what’s left. If I’m reading, it’s usually about sports.
The virus has made me get deep into some other stuff. Instead of playing video games deep into the night, I’ll find myself going down rabbit holes about cities. The history, their evolution, highways, bridges, subways, tall buildings, airports, etc.
I’ve always been a fan of that stuff on my travels anyway. I’m a sucker for history, but it’s really picked up this past year. I’m finding myself more and more fascinated by the accomplishments of past generations in terms of shaping these places. Crazy how many skyscrapers in NYC are decades old and still stand tall among the newest trends. The architecture of a place like the Chrysler Building is timeless.
Then you go to a place like Lake Charles and have an ancient bridge still allowing cars across during busy interstate hours. Granted, it sucks and needs replaced, but damn if that thing hasn’t held up.
Then you have the futuristic Spade Needle towering above the PNW. Ballparks in Chicago and Boston that saw the likes of Babe Ruth and long-dead dignitaries. The Golden Gate Bridge. The Eisenhower Tunnel.
It’s a shame we are currently stuck in a societal rut, when history shows how proud we should be of this awesome country, and all of our achievements that stand as a testament to American ideals and innovation.

I'm on a WWI kick right now. Planning a trip over to see the battlefields.
Also, photography.

That sounds badass. Hell, I’ve been wanting to hit up those old forts in South Louisiana for a time.

Exact same thing. I'm in IT and have been doing that since broadband.
I'll Have Google Earth on one screen and the city's Wiki page on the other and learning about some random frickin city and understanding why it be like it do. Like when it got electricity, subways, industries, etc.

I have a lot of stereotypically nerdy hobbies- coin collecting, solving Rubik’s cubes, astronomy, domino effects, reading TD every damn day.

I’ll slam on the breaks to get a good look at an Art Deco style building.
Or an old brick school building.
Also a nerd for good brick masonry work.
