Well looks like the DR-85 is the way to go for me then...

My only holdup with the DR-85 was that a family friend told me that I'd probably just scare ducks away with a mallard call since I'm new to this and to avoid them all together right now., thanks for the suggestion though maybe I'll have to look into them....

Duck Call Recommendations

I'm Very new to waterfowl hunting and looking to start at least practicing calling with the season being right around the corner. Any recommendations for a good beginner call that won't break the bank? Thank you in advance ...
It's not impossible but I'd be surprised if it were this early. Lake trout are usually on fire in late October/early November. That being said I'll be in Metry and hopefully getting a good report this weekend ...
Basically, if you fish Penn Battle II reels, you're a communist.
Shouldn't that be the only argument needed at this point? :usa:...
Go buy yourself a Symetre.
This. I own a Symetre and a Battle II and I'll choose the Symetre every single time. Much smoother, further cast and all around better in my opinion. I like my battle, but I love my Symetre....

I want to say triple tail but I'm not too sure about that...
If they pop up again be sure to let me know. I'm in the process of seeing how feasible rescuing would be right now....
Strays I'm guessing? If nobody at the camp or properties nearby stakes a claim to them I'm sure someone on OB would rescue one....
I second Moto G for budget smartphone. Had the first gen and loved it, just upgraded to the third gen. Worth every penny. Great battery life and very fast. Its got a bigger screen but thinner and fits in your pocket/hand very well....
Had a pair of straight jackets and switched to Costas. Not bad sunglasses but it definitely depends on what you're using them for. Running, biking, anything along those lines: oakley all day. Costa and Maui Jim have a noticeably better lens quality and personally are much more comfortable....

If you're mechanically inclined and motivated you can do it yourself for about $150. No idea when it comes to the shop though....

re: Cargo Box: Thule vs Yakima

I've never owned either but installed both and have plenty of experience with both companies. The skybox might be just a little bit taller if that factors factors in for anything. As a whole I like Thule better for the price. Great company and great customer service as well as retail support, and t...

A little further out but Black Creek in Brooklyn, MS (about 45 minutes outside Hattiesburg) is great. Rent a canoe, leave your car at the rental shack and paddle to whatever sandbar looks good. They'll come pick you up from any drop off point on the river for about $20....

re: Lake Pontchartrain Tarpon?

I've hit plenty of jack in the lake and a been on boat when a shark got pulled in. Can't imagine there aren't tarpon in there. Off topic but give it another three weeks and the whole lake is gonna be stacked with specks ...

If you have an extra $20ish to put into it the Go2 series from Castaway is great. I've got a 7' medium, been using it a little over 2 years. Plenty of specks, mackerel, and a few reds landed on it....
The test blows. Watch out for scam sites too. From what a coast guard auxiliary lady told me there's a few sites that will charge you for the class but only give a temporary certificate and dont send the card in the mail. :banghead:...
