I've seen a ton of boats the last few days trawling on both sides of the Causeway.

It's not impossible but I'd be surprised if it were this early. Lake trout are usually on fire in late October/early November. That being said I'll be in Metry and hopefully getting a good report this weekend

Yea, it is still a little early for the World Series trout, but to have that many shrimp boats I imagine they're catching something. I haven't seen that many in the lake in a couple years.

On my way to work, I saw two trawlers about 2 miles from the southshore working tandem with nets in the water. Two, I'm guessing, scout boats, were ahead of the two shrimp boats.

I saw them trawling yesterday and was wondering the same thing.

They have to be catching.

Yea I work in the High Rise right next to the causeway bridge for about 3 years and never seen shrimp boats out there. This week I've seen whole fleets of them. Something like 30 boats.

Sounds like...

Sorry, I've been watching Lion King way too much with my 4 year old daughter recently.

There were at least 4 shrimp boats pulling near the southshore when I was on the causeway at 6am this morning

They were there this morning and again this evening on the way home. I've never seen it either. Has to be about 20 boats working the area. Must be shrimp to have boats there burning diesel. Trout can't be far behind.

How do these shrimp boats do it when you can walk across the crab traps in the lake?

Shrimp are very thick this year. All the shrimpers are really waiting on the first good NW cold front wind. Tides are very slack this time of the year which is keeping the shrimp inside.
