This has to be the most beautiful place in the world. I am going to Italy in May of 2018 and have decided to add Oia to the mix for 2-3 nights.

We will do Rome, Venice, and Oia. Is this feesible on 7-days (plus 2 days traveling)?

I went this past summer on a day trip from Heraklion, Crete to Santorini. The day trip is absolutely not the way to do Santorini. We only had 90ish minutes in Oia. Still, Oia was very impressive. It's a place that I'm going to have to go back to spend a few nights there at some point. I thought Oia was nicer and had better views than Fira. It's hard to believe that something like that place actually exists. It's like a postcard.

I think 2 nights in Oia would be about right. Other than driving around the island on your way from the port to Oia, you really wouldn't have a reason to leave, because you'll have seen most of the topography on that drive, and Fira is lackluster compared to Oia.

We did our honeymoon at the Blue Palace in Elounda, Crete for 3 days and then went over to Santorini for 4 days. Hands down the most beautiful place I've ever been. Make sure you take a catamaran cruise around the island. Go visit the volcano and walk up it. My favorite part was going down into Amoudi Bay in Oia and eating dinner.

I would pass on climbing the volcano. Swimming by the vents was kind of cool.

The story is pretty cool. 1 of 2 super volcanoes on earth, the other being in Yellowstone. They truly believed that's where Atlantis once was as well. Lots of history on that island.

Oia is the tourist trap location. Very crowded and very expensive. Stay in Imerovigli. A little way away from Oia (quick bus/scooter hop) with the same views. Go to Oia whenever you want/need to.

Oia is incredible. Ride the donkey up the cliff from the bottom. Do the Santorini wine tour. Boat rides, volcano climbing, and 4-wheeler excursions.

Great place. Would recommend. The whole island is incredible. Watch out for gypsies though, there are a lot.

I fricking hate gypsies.

ETA: don't drink olive wines.
