Where can I see snow in mid to late march?

Basically our winter trip got pushed back two months.
I'd like to go somewhere where I can get an Airbnb a few miles (up to 30 minutes) outside of a smallish town... Say under 40k people. I'd like the town to have a decent grocery store, decent diner, maybe a restaurant or two.
I don't really need attractions or anything else.
Just want some peace and quiet, and for the little guy to be able to see snow for the first time.
We will likely drive. Anywhere within 1400 miles of south Louisiana works. At the moment I'm thinking northern great lakes, but open to whatever.

Most all mountain towns will still have snow then. In fact it’s pretty much the best time of the year for skiing in terms of snow

Was going to suggest the Austrian Alps until I read this:

Drive to Breckenridge, CO. You will see snow and your other requirements will be met.

If you want mountains, probably southern Colorado is your easiest drive.
If you just want country and quiet, upper peninsula Michigan or iron range Minnesota. I don't doubt rental houses on Lake Superior north shore are good and cheap right now. Plenty of baw types up there that hunt and enjoy privacy and such.

Never been, but Angel Fire in NM is only 1000 miles from Baton Rouge.
Resorts in CO are about 1200, that could work too
And maybe upstate NY?

Salida, CO is a cool spot. We went in June and went up to the continental divide, there was snow up there even at that time.

Angel Fire will still have snow then. It is a very small town with several good restaurants. There are a lot of Air BnB properties there that are very nice and inexpensive compared to most other ski resort towns. Ski season there closes around March 20 every year not from lack of snow but many of their employees are foreign and are required to go home by then.

Angel Fire and Red River, NM are both great choices. They are closer than Colorado and pretty small towns and ski areas. Since you aren't interested in skiing, you should be able to find an AirBnb pretty easily. They will also be cheaper than Colorado. If I were going to drive longer, Durango is also a great choice. It's a slightly bigger town, but still not big.

Angel Fire or Red River but Red River has the better small ski town feel.

Pagosa Springs Colorado. There are tons of cabins outside of the small town and Wolf Creek ski area is a little over 30 minutes away. Wolf Creek is strictly a ski area, no lodging there. Like Hot Springs, Pagosa Springs has outside hot spring pools. I think y'all would like this place.

We went to Estes Park, CO in the Rocky Mountains a few years ago and there was still a good bit of snow on the ground that time of year. Kids got to sled down some nice hills. It even snowed a little while we were there, it was beautiful. Estes isn’t huge but there’s plenty of stores and a few restaurants.

Stanley, Idaho
Nevermind. Stanley is right at 2,000 miles from Red Stick.
