My wife swears by them, tried them once and hated how wrinkled my close came out.

Eagle Creek makes a Garmet Folder that keeps dress clothes neat. Works in conjunction to the cubes.

Great on all counts. You need to up your folding game. You'll never have a mess if TSA rifles through your luggage.
We tried a few other brands, but the Eagle Creek cubes are the only ones that work for us.

I use them. Esp for a long trip, it's nice to organize clothing into categories--tops, pants, socks, etc--and be able to quickly find something. I seem to use the smaller ones more often.
Roll, don't fold, and you'll have fewer wrinkles.

Just did a couple weeks in Europe and used the eagle creek ones for the first time... They were great... I am sold.. just so easy to organize everything and pack more in a smaller bag.. and yes, roll clothes and they come out much better..

TSA doesn't ruffle through my luggage because I never give them the opportunity to do so.

Like them a lot. I organize by type of clothing. If I'm somewhere that I can't unpack or don't have storage I'll use then to keep Hingis organized. Eagle Creek.

Travel cubes are a must for Euro trips. Any trip less than 8 days and I'm going carry-on with cubes. Definitely need to pack a febreze or something too, and a wrinkle release spray. They sell travel sizes of both.

Exactly, they are awesome. I love them for underwear and socks especially because it really helps in keeping that stuff together so you don't have to dig through all your crap finding it.
As said: roll your clothes, bring a wrinkle releaser spray in travel portion, and if I'm somewhere for a couple of days I hang up my shirts and pants. I'll even hang my shirts and pants in the bathroom while I shower and then put them in the closet as that helps to release wrinkles.
Unless I go to a really nice dinner though, I generally have learned to not GAF about wrinkles when traveling. I mean you are not going to see the people again. I also learned to pack clothes that either don't wrinkle easily or un wrinkle easily.

I do this home or abroad.
I also sometimes just put the shirt on and splash water all over myself. It's 100 degrees it will dry soon enough.
My go to methods

Are the packing cubes better than the compression bags?
I normally use compression bags(the ones that you roll out the air off not the ones you need a vacuum cleaner for). I tend to overpack so like how much I can fit in the bags and then compress it.

They’re sort of a gimmick, imo. They may help with organization, but you can fit more without them.

They definitely take up some space....but if you are not a chronic bag-overstuffer desperate for extra centimeters, cubes keep you sane on a long trip with a limited wardrobe. You easily distinguish clean from dirty, can pack by category (pants, shirts) or by outfit/things you will wear day by day. Sure, ziplock two gallon bags do the same thing for cheaper, and are compressible. Packing a hyper organized bag (with a capsule wardrobe) makes a long vacation more enjoyable to me.

Completely disagree. But it also depends on what kind of bag you have. If you have a bag with a ton of compartments and you keep your socks and underwear in one place, your hang up shirts and pants one place, etc. Then maybe you don't need them.
We spent 8 days in England with 2 kids under 4 and only carried on, they helped our organization tremendously. We used two backpacks that were basically one large compartment and then a roller carry on I used that's basically a duffel on wheels. No compartments really outside of small ones. We'd arrive somewhere and I had 4 bags, one for rolled slacks, one for collared shirts, one for socks and underwear, and one for undershirts/ tshirts and workout shorts. You immediately know where all your stuff is, and your bag is completely unpacked in 10 seconds.
If you were in the army or marines and can pack your clothes down tight like a champion, I can see not needing them. But the cubes helped me fit WAY WAY more in my bag and easily zip. They really help to compress things down IMO.

Business trip? Probably wouldn’t bother bringing slacks and collared shirts for 8 days in England unless I was meeting the Queen.
I can see them being useful if sharing a bag for multiple people.
I say gimmicky bc I read quite a bit of travel blogs and the ones that really push them are the fashion travel girls with a bunch of commission links. The same type that bring 4 bags on a trip, have a color coordinated Tupperware collection.
Most of the legit types have tried and found them to be more of a hassle than they’re worth.
I guess I fall in with the latter. I only bring 1 bag and never unpack it fully. Your mileage may vary.
