Honeymooned at the Ritz Carlton on St. Thomas and enjoyed it. Didn't care too much for the island but we took the ferry over to St. John for snorkeling one day and hired a driver to take us bar hopping around the BVI's another day. Great trip.

St. John was awesome but don't know where to stay

Never been to St. Croix

Pretty much the same for me as well. St. Thomas was ok, but St. John was much better. Have not been to St. Croix either.

St John is the way Togo. Check the sticked thread, a lot of reviews on USVI.

There's only one choice here and it isn't St. Thomas or St. Croix.

The order is

St. John

St. Croix

St. Thomas

I've been to all ofthem. If you do decide on St. John or St. Croix just ask. I've spent a fair amount of time on both. More on St. John. I've also spent time on St. Thomas.

The right answer is St. John and have your wife find out what she can do to get on the ferry and go to the BVI for a day trip or two from St. John. There are ways to do it without having a passport.

Spent a week on St. John a few years ago. Absolutely loved it!

St. Thomas appeared to have a lot more non-beach type attractions. But if you're just looking to hang out on different remote beaches each day, or at a place with great views, then I highly recommend St. John.

Been to St. Croix 14 times working at Hovensa. Since they closed the plant down. The area has gone down hill. So stay away from St. Croix.

I know the plant has hurt the local economy, but I've still enjoyed my time in St Croix since.

Not sure why it makes a lot of difference to the average tourist.

Agree. I was down there for work as well quite a bit in 2014. I'm really not sure how much has changed, but there was plenty to do on St. Croix.

In limited time in STJ and STT, here's my take on the three islands:
- St. Croix - the more residential island of the three, but great food
- St. Thomas - most touristy of the three, and when cruise ships are in, it can be a bit annoying. More hotel options here though
- St. John - most beautiful and definitely more remote; I think there are only a handful of hotels on the entire island (most of it is a natural park). Also most expensive by far

They are all awesome and have great beaches. If you want something more remote and more private, so St. John if you don't mind spending more $$

Or you could book a few nights at each. Not too hard to get back and forth with ferries, sea planes, and Cape Airlines.

St Croix is the least damaged. Then St Thomas. St John took a major hit and will probably be without electricity for three months. Every line on the island is down.

St. John is really suffering. Cell service is just now getting restored for a lot of people, and most of the pics & updates I've seen the past couple of days are heartbreaking. There literally isn't a leaf left on the island.

St. Croix was relatively left unscathed.

I got a text from one of my friends on St John today. First one to get a text out. All and I mean all of the power lines are down. They're saying three months until service is restored. Please bury the lines this time.

All of the BVI and USVI except for St. Croix are devastated. It's so sad to see those people hurting down there.

Friends from St John are getting on a boat to Puerto Rico tomorrow and flying up to Columbus to stay with friends for a while. It will be good to see them after what they went through.

Another friend is in Italy for three months. There's nothing left of her apartment on St John.

Yeah same thing I'm hearing. They had some initial crime issues last weekend but National Guard troops and St. Croix cops came in and nipped it in the bud.

Most are leaving the island to Puerto Rico to fly out to the US Mainland until resources can be restored. Wish I had the means to help the locals. We may try and plan a trip there in the Spring if there's a place for us to stay. Combine a vacation with a bit of a rebuild if we can.

Willy T is beached and looks bad. Everything above the main deck is gone.

I'll get some first hand information Saturday night.
