One day in L.A.

Looking like I may have a day to kill in L.A. (Los Angeles not Lower Alabama). Haven’t spent that much time there. Dodgers and Angels out of town. Very little interest in Hollywood stars (literal or otherwise), Disney, or tour of stars homes (assuming they still do this?). Nothing going on at the Hollywood Bowl or the Greek Theater.
Options?
Hike from Griffith Park to Hollywood sign
The Observatory
The tar pits (not sure what sitcom I’m thinking of that makes me want to go there)
The Getty
Hit the beach (reccs?)
Maybe a studio tour? Not sure what those are like.
Food tour or something off the beaten path.
What you got? Won’t know until the day before if I’m going to have to work or not. But looks like I will probably have a full day to do whatever.

Do you like beer? If I only had one day I’d find a hike in the morning (Hollywood sign is a good one) and the go to Anaheim and hit up bottle logic, monkish, and green cheek.

Start your morning with a pastry and coffee in Los Feliz, which is near the observatory. Head up for some nice views.
Take Sunset down toward the Getty and have lunch along the route ... Hit the Getty early afternoon. More great art and views.
Keep going and take in a sunset in Malibu or Santa Monica followed by a nice dinner somewhere.

Drive south 45 minutes-an hour and walk around Newport Beach. Or, if you want to stay closer to L.A., Manhattan Beach.

If you have a rental car and are staying downtown or on the west side somewhere, you could do a hike at Griffith Park, La Brea Tar Pits, and end at Santa Monica in a day no problem.

Bike tour. Visit Santa Monica, Venice Beach, West Hollywood, the Hills, etc.
Great way to see a lot of the unique neighborhoods and enjoy the perfect LA weather.

Warner Brothers Studio Tour was really cool. Stop at the Smoke House restaurant for an old hollywood steakhouse meal.

That drive can really suck. You need to stay closer to the Hollywood/Santa Monica area.
Do the hike, then to what this poster said.

I also really liked the Warner Bros tour. Really, though, don't drive to Anaheim, Newport Beach, anywhere in Orange County. It's pretty much the same as driving from one side of the outskirts of Houston to the other. On a good day, it's at least an hour. On a bad day, 2-3. It would be a waste of your limited time.

Smog City is next to Monkish too. Great spot.

Thanks to everyone who responded. Won’t have a car and have been to La Jolla, Dana Point, Laguna Beach, and points south a couple of times. So I’ll be in the city for sure. Will report back if I make it out and about.

I would not recommend squeezing Hollywood and Anaheim in a single day, unless you really enjoy sitting in a car.

Stayed a night near LAX before a flight to Kauai. Ubered to Venice canals and walked the beach from Muscle Beach to Santa Monica pier. Stopped for lunch/drinks at Hotel Erwin Venice and sat on the rooftop. Had beers closer to the pier. Nice day, very laid back.
