I'm in the process of planning a 5 night trip for me and the wife to New York. It will be her first time and my 2nd although I've only spent a day in a half in the city on my first trip.

I pretty much have the tourist attractions already picked out.Looking for a good area to get a hotel in. I've noticed a lot of people said to stay away from Times Square, so I'm looking at Union Square right now.

Also looking for recommendations for nicer restaurants, pizza places, deli's (for traditional NY sandwiches), casual restaurants, and craft beer stops. So far this is what I've gathered from searching on here:

Craft Beer
Fool's Gold
Blind Tiger
The Jeffery Craft Beer & Bites
Other Half Brewing - a must for me
Threes
Singlecut
Interboro Brewing
Torst
Proletariat

Pizza
Joe's on Carmine
Lucali - Brooklyn
Prince Street
Posto
Rubirosa
Bleecker Street Pizza
Lombardi's Little Italy
Roberta's - Brooklyn
NY Pizza Suprema
Saraghina - Brooklyn

Nicer Restaurants
Le Coucou
Per Se
Jean George's
Grammercy Tavern
Craft by Tom Collichio
Eataly
Del Posto
The Mermaid Inn

Deli's or Casual Restaurants
Katz Deli
Mekelburgs
Absolute Bagels
Ess-a-Bagel
Still need to research more

Breweries

Other half is a must for sure.
Threes is pretty good. Not far from Other Half
Grimm doesn't actually have a Brewery but you need to seek the beer out on a menu because it's awesome.
Singlecut in Queens is also a must

Restaurants:

Le Coucou for a really fine dining French restaurant. Seriously one of the best meals of my life.
Jean George's
Gramercy Tavern is a must (and has Grimm)
Craft by Tom Collichio

You have a pretty good list.

Other Half does their beer releases every Saturday at 10am. The taproom is extremely small if you are just looking to chill I wouldn't go there between 10-2pm on saturdays.

From Other Half you can walk to Threes. Mekelburgs is another spot in Brooklyn that I would recommend, sandwich/deli type place with great craft beer. Torst is probably the most famous beer place in New York, I'm not the biggest fan but it will have a great taplist. We have a lot of great beer gardens, Radegast, Sprtizenhaus, Standard beer garden. Grimms new taproom may be open by the time you get here.

I can't recommend the food guide Infatuation enough. It is seriously the best bar/food guide for a city you could have.

For where to stay, anywhere above Houston and below 23rd will be fine.

I don't see Roberta's (pizza) on your list. It may be too far out of the way for you but to me it really embodies Brooklyn/pizza/hipster Mecca. I literally take anyone who visits me there I think that highly of it.

Checked the website out. Looks like a good place to research. Thanks for the other suggestions. Added them to my list.

Been several times and have always stayed at Hotel Avalon in mid town. Nice hotel in Koreatown. Easy access to the subway too. It's literally right around the block from Rattle and Hum, which is a cool beer place.

Add Keen's for steakhouse and the Library at the Nomad Hotel. Also, look for Standard Hotel beer garden.

You won't regret it.

Why aren't you a fan? Their tap list looks good. Bar is setup/designed differently than most beer bars I've been in.

Note that the taproom is quite small, so I'd make sure you are not going on the day of a release. I've been a handful of times and they don't always have cans, so I sometimes am left leaving with a couple growlers instead.

Craft Beer

Proletariat has a good draft/can list. I've seen Threes, Finback, Other Half, Lawson's, and Grimm all on menu. Note that it is another small, but great spot in the East Village.

Pizza

My parents live in the Upper Westside and I still make it my job to go get a slice from NY Pizza Suprema when I am home. It is near Penn Station / MSG on 31st and 8th.

Also would recommend Saraghina in Brooklyn for a Neapolitan-style pizza.

Nicer Restaurants

La Mangeoire in Midtown East, The Mermaid Inn in East Village or Upper Westside, and Del Posto in Chelsea are all spots I really like.

Deli's or Casual Restaurants

Absolute Bagels way up near Columbia, Ess-a-Bagel in Midtown East, RedFarm in Upper Westside or West Village, Gray's Papaya in Upper Westside.

It is very expensive. They recently closed their restaurant and have reopened the kitchen to make it more "bar friendly". Previously it was like a 5* super fancy Nordic menu. It is also very small. I dk to me it just isn't a great atmosphere. The beer selection will be fantastic.

I just think their are much better beer bars where the atmosphere and beer are both great. By all means check out Torst it is in an area loaded with great bars and restaurants.

I don't know why, but I legitimately laughed when I read this.

Don't know if has been mentioned but Interboro is the newest up and coming brewery in Brooklyn that is killing it. Putting out stuff on par with your other halfs, grimm, threes, etc.

For those of you familiar with can releases at Other Half. Is it every Saturday? How long is the typical wait in line to get cans? Do the cans usually sell out on Saturdays or will they have some left to sell during the week?

Plan on being there this upcoming weekend and was trying to plan if I should try and how long should I expect.
