Typically they release on Saturdays and yes you can absolutely expect a line.

The key is to follow them on Instagram or Twitter, usually breweries will release information about times and days for can releases via social media.

They release every Saturday starting at 10am. They normally release 2-3 cans and will typically sell out of the "good" ones by 12-1. If you get there at 10, I would expect to be in line until 11:30-12. If you get there at 9, you will probably be out of there by 11 if not earlier. Things can change depending on what beers they are releasing ETA They will announce what they are releasing normally on Tues/Weds.

I just came across this company in NY. They will stand in line for you for a fee. Actually pretty ingenious. If you're a tourist and want tickets or beer or whatever, you can just pay them to stand in line for you so you don't have to waste your vacation standing in line.

Same Ole Line Dudes

They even specifically mention Other Half as one of the places they frequently stand in line.

I may look into that actually. We are supposed to see a broadway show that day and I don't want to be late for it. I may still be able to swing it if I show up early. I can do 2-2.5 hours at the most. I'm not trying it if it is more like 4 hours though.

If you're there on a Saturday the Smorgasburg in Williamsburg (Brooklyn) is a pretty cool outdoor food market. I think it's only opened seasonally, not sure which months or time periods but it's worth a stop if you're out that way. It also has a great view of Manhattan.

Day 1

Once we landed we dropped off the luggage and hit up Rubirosa Pizza first. We had rice balls and pizza. The pizza was very good. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone. We got the vodka pizza with soppressata .

Then we hit up Blind Tiger for a few beers before check in. Tap list was descent and it reminded me somewhat of avenue pub.

Next we went and checked into the Hyatt in Union Square. Overall the hotel was adequate. They were doing renovations while we were there. Rooms seemed small but that may be a New York thing.

Then we went and got us a subway pass for the week. This saved us a ton of money compared to Uber/taxis. It was the first for me and the wife riding the subway. It was a little intimidating at first be we eventually got the hang of it.

After the subway we got off near grand central station to walk around and see the sights.

Even checked out the whisper room in Grand Central Station

From there we walked to the Rockefeller center. We were going to try to do the top of the rock but it was insane. Guess due to the holiday weekend. We never made it back there for the trip but plan on doing it next trip.

Next we hit up central park.

Walked through the Mall

Rented a boat at the boathouse area.

From there we went to The Jeffrey Craft Beer Bar & Bites for some beer and food. Food and beer here was top notch. Got to drink some Hill Farmstead beers on tap and some other good ones.

I think these were called devils on horseback. There were bacon wrapped dates. Really good. I ended up getting their version of a reuben which was also very good.

From there we called it a night.

Day 2

We started out the day getting bagels at Ess-a-Bagels. It was about a 5-6 block walk from the hotel. Bagels were very good here. Actually my first time ever getting bagels and cream cheese.

From there, we uber-ed down to the 9/11 museum area.

The new world trade center building was incredible.

The pools were also really cool to see. They look bigger in person to me.

We waited in line for tickets. We thought we would be able to get right in but we found out we were buying tickets for 2 hours later. Since we had 2 hours to wait, we decided to walk through the new train station and down to Battery park.

New $4 billion dollar train station.

Tried to get a picture of the bull but this proved to be impossible. I have never seen so many selfie sticks and selfies being taken in my life. The weird foreigners also kept fondling his balls.

Walked to battery park. Line to get on boats for statue of liberty and Ellis island were unreal. Probable over a half of mile long.

We next walked through wall street and back to the museum. We did not take a lot of pictures in the museum (except one I'm posting) but it was a very well done museum.

From there, we tried to hit up a few spots for lobster rolls. Pearl Oyster bar and Mary's Fish camp were both booked up, so we settled for Burger and lobster. Lobster roll was very good but I'm no expert. First time having one actually.

Went back to the hotel and rested a little bit then hit up Fool's gold. Food and tap list was also very good here. Overall I was very impressed with the food in the beer bars in NYC. They definitely pick it up a notch food wise compared to what I'm used to.

Last thing we checked out was Times Square at night. The wife had never been so I figured she should see it. She was shocked and thought it was sensory overload. It was also very packed. Like Bourbon street x 10. Glad we did not stay in that area.

Days 3-5 tomorrow.

Nice. You were very busy the first two days.

I'm not an expert on all the taprooms in NYC, but when I was there, I enjoyed the Ginger Man. It's a couple of blocks from the Empire State Bldg. They actually had Crux Fermentation Project's Half Hitch on tap when i was there. I think that was a one-time deal, though, as Crux doesn't have a big distribution footprint.

Day 3

Started out the day by walking to Daily Provisions (a close breakfast place). Breakfast sandwiches and coffee were pretty tasty.

After Breakfast, we walked through Union Square. We really enjoyed this area and would definitely stay there again. Saw some unique sights around this area. One thing different about New York I noticed was people just hang out in the squares. You don't really see that in the south. Not to that degree at least.

Just a dog riding a skate board with a yankee hat on.

Cool little farmers market going on all weekend. Wish we had more of this stuff back home.

I ended up using "Same old line dudes" to wait in line at Other Half for me. It wasn't cheap but I wanted to ensure I could get some of their beer. Turns out, I didn't really need to since they had beer left over when I visited the next day. I thought the service was really professional. Would recommend them again. Here's a pic of the haul while getting ready for a broadway show.

We caught some entertainment in subway on way going to broadway show. We really enjoyed the different performers we got to see.

Never been to a broadway show before but I probably enjoyed it more than I thought I would. We saw Aladdin. Would rather see something non-Disney I think.
[/img]

From there, we went back to our area and ate dinner at Craft. Food (all courses) were very good. I would compare it to some of the top notch restaurants back in New Orleans. We didn't take pictures unfortunately. Next time we may do a fancier tasting meal somewhere.

After Dinner, we were stuffed and went straight to sleep.

Day 4

We started off by grabbing breakfast at Balthazar. They weren't taking reservations but I figured we may be able to squeeze in if we walked in when they opened. Luckily we were seated right away. Breakfast was really good here. Wife loved her bowl of cappuccino.

Eggs Benedict

French Toast

Next we walked down to China town (Canal Street) to get a purse for the wife. Crazy/Sketch Asian women were aggressive, but I was able to get the price down and get out of there.

Hopped on the subway and headed out to Other Half Brewery. Beer was a lot better than the look of the place. Tap room was probably the tiniest tap room I have every witnessed. They probably have the best offerings of IPA's of any brewery I have ever been to and I've been to a few of them.

Juicy!

We hit up Threes next. Beers were ok and we probably shouldn't have done Other Half first.

From there we made the hike over to Roberta's Pizza. Another somewhat sketchy looking place but the pizza was dynamite.

I had planned to hit up Interboro but at this point I don't think the wife would have made it. Too many ipa's! So instead, we took uber to the beginning of the Brooklyn bridge and walked across. The walk was very scenic.

For Dinner, we walked down to Eataly. Place was way less crowded at 9pm than in middle of the day. We ate at the pizza and pasta restaurant and got some meats and cheeses and a pasta to share. All of it was good. We really enjoyed Eataly and walking through there and seeing the different butcher meats/cheeses/fish/Italian products.

What our meat and cheese platter looked like.

I had some good suggestions.

We are already ready to go back. It was my wife's first time and she loved it. It was only my 2nd time.

Day 5

We started off the last day getting on the subway and going to Absolute Bagels near the northwest side of central park. This was a cash only spot and the bagels were very good.

From there, we went to the American Museum of Natural History. It was packed but once we got in it was so big that the people were somewhat spread out. We enjoyed the museum. Tons to look at and read. We sort of sped through the museum and it still took us 3 hours to get through it.

From there, we walked through central park again and enjoyed the sites along the way to the zoo.

The zoo was small and we were able to walk through the whole thing in less than an hour.

After the zoo, we walked back into midtown and the wife did some shopping on 5th avenue.

Plaza hotel

We then hopped on the subway and headed south. Got off on Houston street and walked around a little. Stopped at a beer bottle shop "Top Hops" and bought a few local beers. Then we finished it up with early dinner at Katz's Deli. Their sandwiches are huge there.

Congratulations on visiting the greatest city in America (and probably the world), anyone that says otherwise is a fool.

Glad you enjoyed yourself.

Rubirosa and eataly are 2 of my go to recommendations in all the NYC threads.

There is a Beretta store and gun gallery on Madison by the zoo. Next time

The CP zoo is fairly weak. The Bronx Zoo is better but not in the same class as Audubon.
