I see deals out of New Orleans to Montreal and Toronto all of the time (like less than 200 RT) so curious about this area.
What about Vancouver, Quebec, or other areas? What are some activities and times of the year would you recommend?

I've been to PEI. Very pretty and almost every small restaurant in every little coastal village was delicious. We spent three days at a beach house there when we did Boston/Maine a few years ago.

Recommend early June for PEI. The weather was incredible. I would've like to have done some hiking in Nova Scotia but it wasn't in the cards.

I've been to Vancouver, Montreal, Quebec, Victoria, Calgary and Banff. My favorite is Banff and the surrounding area. Look up Lake Louise and Morain Lake. We went in August a few years back. I would love to go back!

Great spots! Banff, Jasper etc are great places, but check out Fernie BC. It's less than 2 hours from where I am but is incredible.

I love the BC coast and the Yukon.

Lots of beautiful coastline within 150 miles of Vancouver.

I've only been once - 6 day canoe trip on the Bowron canoe circuit in B.C. Probably the best camping trip I'll ever go on. Just incredible.

I have only been to Eastern Canada - mostly Nova Scotia, but also a short time in Montreal and Kingston, ON. I was always up there in the winter, but even then it wasn't that bad in Nova Scotia. I really enjoyed Halifax. There's some great restaurants, lobster everywhere, a few breweries, cool ferry across from Dartmouth and Peggy's Cove area is beautiful (exactly what you picture for coastal NE). I would love to get back up there in the summer. I liked Montreal for the short time I was there, but it's a different world from NS. Kingston is a cool setting, but it was snowing so much when I was there, it was hard to enjoy anything.

ETA: As you mentioned, you can get some cheap flights out that way from MSY. I also took a train from Toronto to Kingston and it was a breeze.

My grandparents front yard was the St Lawrence river so I spent a lot of time in Canada, particularly Ottawa. Later in life I started to go to western Canada. Vancouver may be the nicest city in North America . I'm going back to BC next Summer in fact for a vacation.

I like the whole country . Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary, Vancouver, Whistler, Lake Louise etc- all worth seeing. Canadian people only trail Japanese imho for good helpfulness/ politeness as hosts. It's just a great, clean country full of great people. It always reminds me of the America I grew up in when I get outside the big cities.

Vancouver and Quebec are fantastic vacation destinations. Vancouver is a beautiful city as is nearby Victoria which is an easy ferry ride away. Quebec is the closest thing you will get to Paris without having to cross the big pond.

Just got back from a week in Whistler and Vancouver. Would highly recommend it. Airbnb was very cheap as well in the summer. We had a full condo right in Whistler Village for less than $150 a night.

I'm looking to spend Thanksgiving in Montreal this year. It's only a 5 hour drive so we figured why not. Going to be following this thread.

Went earlier this summer to visit my gf who lives in the falls. The niagara region is beautiful. Falls are a great sight to see but a huge tourist trap outside of the actual falls. Niagara on the lake is a really cool town. Toronto is a really cool city to spend a couple days in but it's not really much of a "tourist" place in terms of things to see. A lot of what there is you can knock out in two days. We went to Ottawa as well which was really cool. I enjoyed it there a lot. If you do go there be sure to check out parliament as it'll be closed for the next twelve years. It's a beautiful building with even more beautiful scenery.

I have a very good friend who lives in Montreal. When he took time off a couple weeks ago, he went to the Laurentian Mountains they stay in lake side cabins, usually.
