I've only been to Oahu, but hang out on the beach, try surfing if you haven't already. Diamond head is touristy but pretty cool, go early. Poly cultural center and Pearl Harbor are must sees. North shore is relaxing, but water is too dangerous to go out very far.

Total nerd move here but try to do the LOST tour of where they filmed a lot of the scenes from the show.

Blue Water Rafting for a snorkel trip in Maui.
Ulupalukua Vineyard for some cheap, sweet wine.

Just stay there. The rest is over commercialized, overpriced tourist traps.

Plan earlier than the day before

I'll give one thing at the two islands Ive been to
Maui - sunrise and Haleakala and bike down. Don't do a guided bike tour down...go with a company that bring you up for sinrise and lets you ride the bike down at your own leisure and turn it in when you're done. This is the company we used and I've got nothing bad to say. Watching the sun rise from above the clouds is the most majestic thing Ive ever seen.

Oau - Go to the Halekulani Hotel about 60 minutes before sunset and find The House Withouta Key...its their bar/restaurant near the pool and against the ocean. Dinner is amazing but tell them you're just their for drinks and pu-pus and enjoy the music. An absolute must do.

Mama's Fish House in Maui is absolutely fantastic. Very pricey but definitely worth it.

Would have been my second suggestion...Maui Brewing being my third. Mamas was awesome and their crab cake is what every crab cake aspires to be.

Sound advice. Oahu is truly a tourist trap. The big island has more space to "do Hawaii".

I would rent a car and explore the entire island. There is so much to see.
quote:Pearl Harbor, no brainier. If you are fit climb Diamond Head! Northshore has some great waves. Duke's at the Outrigger is a fun hangout on Waikiki Beach for the day.
Then ending in Oahu.

If you like noodles and/or all things fried, go to Marukame Udon in Honolulu.

Just got back from big island. Go to volcano national park. Drive up the maunalea volcano. Visit a Kona coffee farm. Visit the botanical garden north of Hilo. Take a sunshine heli tour. Drive saddle road to get thru the island. Kona was a nice area to visit along the waterfront. Kohala resorts are very nice.

Maui:
I'll have to break this down into areas.
Already mentioned but the long way to Hana on the Kahekili Hwy is a must. Most beautiful drive ever. Olivine Pools, Nakalele Blowhole, Julia's banana bread in Kahakuloa, Ohai loop.
If you can stay the night in Hana, do it so you don't have to rush back!
Things to do in Hana:
1. Red Sand Beach. Very exclusive, but you can google how to get to it. I remember asking the locals about it, and they wouldn't tell me. lol.
2. Wainapanapa State Park (Black Sand Beach).
3. Pipiwai Trail to Waimoku falls. 4 miles round trip, but worth it. (Don't stop at the "stop here" sign). 7 sacred pools are freezing cold and murky, and there's nothing sacred about them lol.
4. A hidden Gem - Hana Farms - Fri & Sat nights, it's Pizza night and BYOB. All ingredients on the pizzas are grown right there on the farm. Also have ridiculous macadamia nut banana bread.
Activities:
1. Trilogy Tours - Sail Lanai. DO THIS. Hands down.
2. Already mentioned as well. Sunrise Haleakala bike tour. We used "Bike it Maui." They were great.
3. Molokini snorkeling tour. Didn't get to, but heard it's some of the best underwater sites around.
4. Jump off Black Rock (Kaanapali Beach). King Kamehameha did it nightly, and so can you.
5. Lava fields @ La Perouse Bay.
6. Just Walk Lahaina. Littered with neat shops, restaurants, etc. Great town.
Places to Eat:
808 Grindz Cafe. for breakfast and order the Macadamia Nut Pancakes with Mac-Nut sauce. Thank me later.
Sunrise Cafe. Hole in the wall delicious breakfast spot.
Mama's Fish House at sunset. Be prepared. I dropped 3 bills for 2 people.
Dukes.
