I want to fly somewhere for a day. Where should I go?

The wife and I will be in Kansas City, MO for two weeks doing work stuff. We will be finished up by Friday evening and want to fly out early Saturday morning , but not sure where yet. We will be flying back Sunday afternoon to head home.
So far my options are:
- Philadelphia
- Chicago
- Denver.
Our options are limited with us only being there for a day so we would want to mostly stay in or near the city when seeing/doing things.
If you were in my position, where would you fly to? Why did you choose there?

I'm from Philly originally and Kansas City to Philly seems kinda far for a day trip. I'd suggest something in the midwest or mountain region so you're not spending most of your saturday traveling. Chicago would be my suggestion, with Denver a close 2nd. Reason I'd not suggest Denver is the amount of time it takes to get from the airport to anywhere. DIA is out in the middle of nowhere so it just adds on to your travel time.
I've done a day trip to Chicago from Nola before and it turned out well. Hancock tower, Lincoln park zoo, navy pier, cloud gate, Giordanos/Lou Malnatis, etc. If it's summer you could even try to catch a cubbies or white sox game.

Yeah, I wanted to keep the travel to a minimum but I found a ticket from KC to Philly and we would leave around 7 in KC and land in Philly at 10:30. Figured that wasn't too bad. Also one of the cheaper tickets out of KC

Have you been to any of these cities before? Of the three, the one I've spent the shortest amount of time in was Philly, and that was when I was a teenager just passing through for a ballgame. That would be my pick, solely based on having never spent any time there. Chicago is always fun. I think Denver would be at the bottom of this list. I've only been out there to ski and for a Rockies game about 20 years ago. Back when they were still building Coors and still playing at Mile High.

If you end up choosing Philly let me know and I'll try to think of suggestions. Philly is good because you can easily take the train directly from the airport to downtown and it's cheap (want to say $8?). There's a lot of historical stuff, but also random festivals over the weekends during summer. Reading terminal, liberty bell, independence hall, comcast building, the franklin institute, cheesesteaks at Pat's or Genos or Jims, south street, usually some stuff going on at the waterfront, Phillies might be at home that weekend.

I've been to Denver, but it was just to pass the hours while we were leaving to go skiing. I've never been to Chicago or Philly.

What date? Could be a fun event going on in Denver.

Just a day in Chicago would be a disservice

Was there last weekend meeting up with friends.
I still feel like I may need to go to the hospital
Went to Cubs Pirates on Friday which was good.

Several things going on that weekend in Philly. LINK
XPonential Music festival on the camden waterfront (would have to take a taxi or uber across the river from philly but it's right there). LINK
If youre a democrat politicalfest is July 22-27 with the democratic national convention in philly July 25-28 LINK

Yeah, it crossed my mind, but I know nothing about why (or why not) that would be a good destination to travel for one day.
I know almost nothing about Minneapolis

Looks like it will be Philly. If you could, email me at prahaaa.la@gmail.com if you think of any more suggestions. Will be airbnb'ing so what neighborhood is a good one?
