Above all, hoping all remain safe!

Hurricane novice here: I'm traveling to Austin on Friday morning, September 1. Any worries I should have getting there?

I should have mentioned, we live in Thibodaux and the wife will likely be on 24 hour call as a vet unless for a strange reason there is a mandatory evac.

We are plenty high enough where I live. I just don't want to leave her here to tend tongenerator, no power, etc

Am I going to be able to get out of BTR on Monday?

Are you on a flight before 830am? If so i'd say yes. The flights that have to arrive from atl midday to late afternoon monday not sure how things will go

I would probably cancel the trip in your shoes, however all we can do at this point is keep an eye on the anticipated track of the storm. If the models show a weaker storm and you really need to get to dc, id chance it.

As a note: dont cancel your trip until american/southwest/united post a waiver for new orleans or they will charge you! My guess is they'll have one up by saturday or sunday

Okay, there's a 6am, 7:10am, 8:45am, and a 9:44am on Monday. The only problem with the 9:45am is that the inbound flight comes from Atlanta to Baton Rouge on Monday morning, the flights before (6/7/8:45am) all come in on sunday night. While I think you won't have issues getting out on the 9:45am, the safest bet is one of those earlier flights since the plane will already be here. Delta is normally pretty good about not cancelling during tropical weather (I flew out during that tropical storm at the end of June and didn't have any issues). I'll keep the delta waiver updated, as of yet though they haven't even included sunday for the houston area. Stay tuned

I posted earlier but, I'm supposed fly LCH to DFW then LAS on 8/30 @ 2pm , feel like I'm in a jam ? Not knowing exactly when this thing will make it to SWLA....part of me wonders if I should leave Monday/Tuesday if it's still stuck over in Texas ? Or do I hope it's past Lake Charles by Wednesday ?

Thanks. I wouldn't think there would be a problem for flights from ATL. Guess it all depends on how the weather is here on Monday

The only option right now is to sit and wait. By tomorrow we should have a better idea what harvey is planning on doing

What do you think about a flight out of IAH at 7:30am Saturday?

Update: Anyone flying on southwest through Houston/Austin/that area they updated the waiver to include Monday. The rest of the airlines haven't done this yet, but expect it to come soon

CuseTiger-

You seem to know your shiet I mentioned my flight plan early on in the thread, but things with the storm have gotten worse and it seems to be getting real.

What would you do in this situation? Flight is on American on Wednesday 30th ~ 5:30AM and we are headed to Dallas then on to Reno. Seems like a good chance that the LCH to DFW may be cancelled either due to no aircraft coming in or not allowed to take off from LCH.

Thoughts?

You'll need the inbound to get in on tuesday night. Based on this image, national hurricane center thinks it's just a tropical storm on tuesday at 1pm near beaumont. If it's only a tropical storm, they may get the flight in but it's a tossup right now. If American does post a waiver for wednesday, tuesday morning may be your better bet for leaving for reno. Just my current thoughts...
