What's it all about? I travel a good bit for work and have never gone in one. I'm about to hit Platinum for the first time so I'd imagine there's a decent discount to get in, but is it worth it? Better food? Free drinks? I'm at Minneapolis/St Paul (MSP) at twice a month for a few hours, any experiences?

The clubs vary, some are very nice others are just mediocre. At the very least most offer free draft beer and certain liquors along with various snacks. They are making more of an effort to increase the food selection. Most are now offering hot foods. They will have Starbucks coffee and a good selection of breakfast items in the mornings. Good restrooms.

If you are flying enough to be DL platinum you need to be using the clubs. Either get a CC that allows access or expense the membership

Thanks for the info. I have the Platinum delta sky miles card but never looked into it. Figured I was missing out.

The food is alright and the drinks are pretty good, but I think the biggest advantages are the views and the showers. When traveling with a whole lot of crap on a hot day in summer, it's nice to be able to take a shower before or after a flight. The skyclubs are usually located a floor above the terminal so the views of the planes and noticing tarmac delays make it worth going in for a bit.

I was recently in the renovated sky club at LAX and was very impressed. The food was really good. They had a make your own rice bowl with delicious chicken, greens, sticky rice and other toppings. They had draft and bottled beer, along with a make your own cocktail with Grey Goose and other premium liquors.

Contrast that with the renovated United President's club at IAH over the weekend. Sky Club blew it away with offerings of food and drink

If you are travelling up north during the winter, being a Sky Club member can be great if you are trying to change your flights due to cancellations, etc. While everyone else is making a mad dash to the Delta counter, you can leisurely stroll into the Sky Club and get instant service.

There was one winter that this service alone made it worth it to me.

Also good to hear. I usually make a few trips through MSP every winter. And yes, cancellations absolutely suck.

Thanks

Also if your flights are canceled or you need to make changes to your ticket do this in the Sky Club. Those agents have helped me a number of times when the gate lines are swamped

I am a diamond and enjoy them. My hope is to never go in one because that means I have a longer layover. However, they are nice. The best perk is dealing with the service desk if you hit a delay. They take great care of you... and if you travel a ton then you know it is worth its weight in gold.

I most often use MSY. I hit it up for 15 minutes before my flight for the restroom and usually a coffee.

As others have said the amenities vary... often within airports they are different. So take ATL. They have a new BEAUTIFUL one on B. They also have an outdoor seating area at the one in F. The others are plain.

In Detroit- the larger one near F/G has more food and liquor options but the one in C has self pour drink options.

I have been most impressed with the food selection at JFK. The best free beer I have seen was LAX.

I've been in a few different ones when my Dad and I used to travel to a road game every year. ATL was decent. Free drinks, good breakfast, etc. Someone mentioned showers, but I'll also add the shitters are nice.
