If you like the Hancock Tower bar advice I'd encourage you to do the bar at Trump tower as well (or instead). It's on the 6th floor instead of the 86th or whatever, but you actually get a much more posh and much better view of the best square 1/4 mile in America IMO. It's epic at around 5PM on a work day to people watch from just high enough to have a great view but low enough to see the rat race.

A new Chicago thread pops up every week, search some old ones.

I tried but will do again. Thanks

Search function has never worked well for me on my phone. I went back 4 pages and saw nothing so I just went ahead with this.

Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder Co. is a must place to eat. They have a one pound "pot pie" style pizza that is heaven. Wait could be in excess of an hour but there is a reason why, it is that damn good! Go through both doors and find the old guy who is the hostess, tell him how many and he does everything by memory which is pretty impressive. Btw it is cash only.

Going next month as well. Is there anything special about the Lincoln Zoo or is that skippable?

I'd recommend skipping navy pier. Maybe I was there at the wrong time but there was nothing special about it

For history
1. Architecture tour (as said above)
2. Segway tour - you look stupid but super fun

For Comedy
1. Shakespeare improv - I liked it better than second city
2 second city is still awesome though

Sports
1. Wrigley and only Wrigley - hang out at the bars in Wrigleyville after

Food
Great recs in here. Second for oven pizza and grinders. Also you have to eat at a nice steakhouse when I Chicago.

My husband loves the field museum and thinks the planetarium sucks. Second the bar advice. Don't eat on top of the Hancock building...overpriced and not great food. Bar has the views, just grab a drink before your dinner place.

Also second skipping navy pier. No idea what is so special about it.

If you'll be riding the el know the red line is the one that runs 24 hours. The others don't.

You can skip it IMO. If you've done Audubon in NOLA you'll probably be underwhelmed by the LP Zoo.

No you don't- great steaks are a dime a dozen. There are so many other great dining options here. If you're gonna spend $200+ on a meal don't do something you can get anywhere else.

Architecture tour and Field museum.

Please skip the pier. It's a shitty tourist trap with no redeeming qualities.

Agree with this. There are great steakhouses in every major city and they are mostly of the same quality, with the same sides and appetizers.
