Greetings Travel board,
My friends and I just got back from Chicago and had a blast.

Now I'm planning a solo trip for my birthday to Boston in mid August.. History minor and huge history nerd so will be doing some tours obviously.... the Sox are playing the Cardinals that week so will be doing a tour/game as well..

Any food/ bar recs would be greatly appreciated

Do the batting practice tour, you get to go on the field and up to the green monster for bp.
You can get tickets for the tour the day of the game, I think they go on sale around 8 am right outside the stadium.

Send me an e-mail and I'll be happy to send you my guide that I send people.

What kind of food are you looking for? Price range? There are tons of great places to eat.

Beer? Cocktails? There are obviously a lot of great craft breweries up here.

What area of the city are you staying in?

I'm actually going to disagree here.

I usually tell people to avoid Sam Adams because it's a bit of a tourist trap. If you'd like to do a brewery tour and get some free beer, I would highly recommend going to Harpoon instead.

It's easier/faster to get to, and (in my opinion at least) the beer is much better.

Plus Harpoon makes some damn good homemade pretzels with sauces made from their beer, so that's always a bonus.

Seeing that he's an Ole Miss fan, I don't think he'll enjoy all of the LSU gear on the walls as much as I do.

I could care less about it being an LSU bar. It's just a fun place with lots of hotties running around.

Man we've clearly gone to the baseball tavern on different nights.

Most people up here consider it a townie shithole. I only go there for LSU games because that's where our alumni group is.

The roof deck on the third floor is nice though.

Not yet. Had something come up at work and wasn't sure we could get away

Now we are for sure going and booking in the next 24 hours. We are going in 3 weeks.

Any recommendations for something not directly in downtown but is off the subway line for easy access around?

Man, I have to tell you, you've posted a ton of questions about everywhere outside Boston to see, particularly focusing on Martha's Vineyard and the Cape.

You've asked about going to:
MV
The Cape
Portland
Places along the way to Portland
New Hampshire
Providence
Salem

Don't you think you should have been focusing on securing housing in Boston first?

I don't mean to be an arse, but you're asking for places to stay in three weeks, during the busiest tourist season of the year.

I know. I'm normally a planner but I didn't know if I'd still have a job until this week so it wasn't ideal

It's a one time thing so I'm hoping I can find something.

Give me some ideal price ranges and I'll try to find some airbnbs that will work for you.
