What are some of the board's thoughts on a good carry on luggage brand? Going to buy my wife a new carry on suitcase. She wants one with four wheels.

Best value: TravelPro, affordable and durable.

Best quality: Tumi, expensive and very durable.

Best of both: Briggs and Riley.

If you really want to splurge, get a metal Rimowa 4 wheel. It will last forever.

Consider buying the smaller international carry on size.....it will fit all US domestic carriers, plus intl regional and even some smaller commuter jets.

I'd say travel is probably around 4-5 times a year. Nothing crazy.

I trend Hartmann over Tumi, but will also recommend Eagle Creek without reservation. Bought the SO a Travelpro and she really likes it, but I have an Eagle Creek international carry on that is like 10 years old and looks new, it's impressive.

I have an Eagle Creek toiletries kit, and it is sturdy, flexible, and washable. Burned thru two Tumi trifold toiletry bags in 10 years, and this far less expensive Eagle Creek, has proven to be more durable, easier to pack, better organized.

For pure durability I'd take the upper line Eagle Creek over pretty much anything else. If you like or can live with the look, it's hard to beat. Well laid out organization too.
