You'll love Atlanta's aquarium - it's massive. Even has a couple whale sharks. I've been to several others, and you start to think "you've seen one, you've seen them all." But Georgia's is on a whole other level. I love Stone Mountain too - only 30 minutes away from Atlanta.

If you stay near Centennial Park, you'll be close to World of Coke, the aquarium, and College Football HOF. However, if you stay anywhere near a MARTA stop and you're OK with public transit, then all of those areas are easily accessible.

Midtown near 10th street is great if you plan on going to Piedmont Park and want to be a short drive/cab/uber from great restaurants. There's also a MARTA stop nearby.

Staying near the perimeter and 400 makes leaving town for the outlets easier and also gets you near Perimeter Mall and the Dunwoody MARTA station. Personally, if I was visiting Atlanta I would want to stay in the actual city.

Some good suggestions here OP.

I second the Vortex, some of the best burgers I have ever had. Definitely do the aquarium, it's pretty cool and ever expanding.

I don't know when you are coming, but Cirque du Soleil is in Atl until May 8th(I realize that's only like 2 weekends, lol.)

Obviously I'm a big supporter of coming to Athens for a day trip, but I don't know how feasible/fun that would be for your pregnant wife .

I would recommend staying in midtown, close to everything and a really safe area. The Georgian Terrace Hotel is a really cool older building, right across from the Fox Theater.

Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

The aquarium is awesome. Can easily spend an entire day there.

Also, since you would appear to be into mountains, don't forget to check out Stone Mountain while you're there. Would be hard pressed to spend a whole day there, but it's interesting to see.

We're actually heading up May 9 I believe

That's on our list too if we have time. We were there in '13 for the game. Athens is beautiful and one of my favorite SEC towns

Thanks for the suggestions and I'll be sure to ask more questions

What about driving by the Big Chicken in Marietta?

Seriously, there is a lot to do in the Centennial Park area..CNN, Aquarium, World of Coke, College football Hall of Fame.

All you people steering him clear of booze and beer attractions due to the pregnant wife clearly have a different experience with pregnancy than mine. I looked at it like having a designated driver for 9 months when my wife was pregnant.

In that case, walk over to Biergarten from Centennial Park and pound 64oz german beers

The post suggested Perimeter or MOG. Of the two, I suggested Perimeter.

As an aside, Lenox and Phipps are both extremely overrated.
