I depend on my smartphone for business, but it's become a distraction when I want to forget about work.

A $100 Kickstarter product called the Light Phone is a credit card sized phone. The idea is to slip the thing in your shirt pocket and leave the bulky smartphone at home.

The Light Phone doesn't text, email, photograph, play Netflix, or do anything but make and receive calls through your existing phone number.

Does anyone see value in this thing?

If it only makes calls and tells time why is it so big, does the battery last a few weeks?

I'm not opposed to the function but the form should be more like this:

It lasts 20 days. Not sure what the talk time is though.

I read about this summer of last year. I guess it's still trying to get funded.

I like the idea but $100 is too much.

Get a flip phone. I don't know why you would get rid of text.

I don't think it will take off.

There are some people now that view returning a phone call as a huge inconvenience and think everybody should text everything.

Hell no

Do people actually know other people's phone numbers anymore? If it wasn't for the contact list I'd be SOL.

I don't get it. Is it for people who have absolutely zero self-discipline and cannot leave their phones in their pockets? So you pay $100 to force yourself to stop playing on the phone, and to be inconvenienced when you really need an actual phone for something?
