What's the reason for international? I loved my note 4 except for one huge problem. Locked bootloader.
There are pros and cons, and the cons may be dealbreakers for some. I did some reading right before I bought the S7, so some of what I read may only apply to the S7.
Pros:
1. Bootloader unlocks with the flip of a switch (after you enable developer settings). Rootable, can flash roms, twrp
2. Uses the Samsung Exynos processor, which apparently runs cooler, provides slightly better battery life (maybe debatable), and has a little faster performance for day-to-day tasks (opening apps, memory management). This all may also be attributable to lack of carrier bloatware more so than the CPU itself, but there is no test to compare Apples to Apples in that regard.
3. Speaking of no carrier bloat, NO CARRIER BLOAT.
4. Cheaper. Got the regular S7 for $570, whereas it's at least $100 more for a U.S. version via AT&T.
5. Updates from Samsung, not AT&T
Cons
1. Here's the big one: No warranty from Samsung. But, you can independently purchase a warranty from Squaretrade, or if you buy from B&H, it comes with a squaretrade warranty. I'm currently taking a risk by having no warranty on it at all. Just going by historically how I haven't needed to use warranty service (KNOCK ON frickING WOOD). Major hardware problems are most likely to present themselves in the first 30 days of use.
2. Samsung won't repair your device at all, according to some anecdotes. So, third-party repair only.
3. No VoLTE or WiFi calling. This is the case with any non-carrier branded phone, though.
4. No SamsungPay...Maybe? Reddit post said it works recently, but I've yet to try it. Rooting the phone renders Samsung Pay unusable regardless.
5. Doesn't support one of AT&T's 4 major LTE bands (2, 4, 5, and 17). The International S7 doesn't support band 5. Or band 30, but that one is new. However, my wife's S7 is faster on LTE than my Nexus, so it doesn't seem to be a big deal around here.

But wouldn't the big issue be that you can't root the Snapdragon version, though?

I thought they only locked the note 4. I swear the note 5 has an unlocked bootloader

None of the widgets are that practical. I've had Galaxy's ever since they came out. I just kept rearranging everything, daily. None of the widgets really did anything but being a giant button to whatever app.
I'm not against Android but the argument that it has widgets and customization is not a reason to buy it.
That being said, Samsung makes some good phones.

Everything I posted above is applicable to the Galaxy S7, as I said.

Sounds like you were doing widgets wrong or just didn't have a need for the ones that are actually useful. It's best to approach it from a perspective of what you'd find convenient rather than look at lists of top widgets. If you think, gee, I wish I could do all these things without having to do x, y, and z, there's probably a widget or two for that.

It should work. I don't think the app will ask for root permissions just because it's modified. Just make sure to turn on installation from unknown sources.

Installed my fair share of custom ROMs and kernels, and it would be a hard sell as a top reason to use Android. There's already quite a bit of customization options out of the box.
You've obviously never used Cyanogenmod. It is my go to ROM and using anything else just doesn't do it for me.
Any time I've used Touchwiz it has felt like iOS for Android and with the bootloader being locked you can't change a thing...

I have, briefly. I switched ROMs and kernels every few days when I first got my Nexus. I can appreciate lean ROMs and kernels, and the extra conveniences offered (many of CM's features can be found in other AOSP ROMs, by the way). Hell, I'm running a custom ROM right now. But I can take it or leave it. To me, stock Android is good as is (and the current iteration of Touchwiz is not so bad either, in case you've not paid attention in recent years). Encouraging an iPhone user to switch to Android because of custom ROMs specifically is not really all that convincing or necessary, and that's literally all I was saying.

My wife's Galaxy S7's bootloader is unlocked and her phone is rooted.

Ah I figured since the note 5 could be rooted then the s7 could as well and that's not the case.

Lol OK. Hey could I possibly get a little of your time to help my 18yo out getting his new video card to work?
He has never been able to make it work.. Aurora r3 i7.. Old one works fine when he puts out back in and he's bought a new power supply (even though old one was plenty), running latest bios but that fancy new card just won't work and I haven't had time to fool with it much.

Yep, just email me the details of the card (old one and the new one), full specs of system, and everything you've tried.
