Is there anything out there that is an upgrade from the polk psw110 that I'm currently running? 300 dollar price range. The bic f12 looks nice. 475 watt 12" sounds like it will beast pretty good.

This is one of his three rigs. That sub has nothing on the cost of this shite.

You win the thread. Do you walk into an imax and think it's subpar?

Are those Focal Utopias? Those things are nice!
Edit: They look like the Focal scala utopia v2. MSRP on those bad boys is around $34k. Never seen a grill on the bass unit before.

I've got a NHT sub with a 12 inch driver with several hundred watts of built-in amplification.
My problem with getting more bass out of my system is that my Denon 4311CI Head unit has Audessey EQ, which makes for beautiful balance and EQ of all speakers, but it "de-tunes" the bass output, no matter what you do with the sub's gain knob.
Anyone else have this problem? Got a fix?

Manually set up speakers maybe?!
I just got the AVR 4520ci

No shite Sherlock ?!
I remember doing it manually when I got the new Denon over a year ago, and preferred the Audessey sound quality in spite of the weak bass response.
Did you have this same experience and did you choose to do a manual set-up?

Damn. I have a denon avr1000. Is that why my polk sub is lacking bass resonse? Is there something I can do to combat that?

Very likely Audessey is the problem.
It's been almost 2 yrs since I was a daily reader over on the audioholics.com forums, but there were threads about this issue and they were discussed ad nauseam.
Can't recall if the problem ever got solved either
Maybe some changes were made to Audessey, but probably not, if you have the same issue.
I tried to run Audesssey with the gain turned way down on the sub, so that Audessey would boost a weak signal (plus I could further turn up the gain knob if necessary), but this didn't work. Couldn't fool the system, so I gave up. Now might be a good time to revisit the problem, look/ask around for solutions.
Please post whatever you can find.

Yeah I have audyssey xt and it does subs. It was the whole reason I went with that unit

Same here. Had it since first introduced & still crankin' it out. Amazing tight for an 18-incher.

That Gotham is a sweet sub, but I'd rather go with a pair of TCsounds LMS ultra 5400 18" subs in sealed boxes to even out the response. But I'm a home theater guy, not a 2 channel guy.

I think everyone here is running subs in home theater setups, that two channel rig is just one of Marcos' systems.
I don't own a sub since 97% of the time my stereo is on its playing music, and I only have one.
