After demoing a bunch of tower speakers 4 years ago, one that blew me away was the flagship RF-7 II ($3200 MSRP). $2600 was the lowest price I could haggle for at an online authorized dealer (brand new, A-stock) so I went with much cheaper original RF-7 instead.

Then I recently got in on the deal of the century. $1280 for a pair of RF-7 II at local Fry's. I picked up a pair of RS-62 II bipole surrounds for 60% off as well.

You love blocking that fireplace.

Nice find. I have to ask what you've put in the room to tame the sound. I see reflective surfaces.

my living room has the worst room acoustics ever. wooden floor that reflects the sound, open spaces everywhere. I need my own dedicated HT room that's treated with foam panels and carpeted floors.

imo order of importance regarding sound quality
1. speakers
2a. source (d/a converter, quality of recording, etc)
2b. room acoustics
4. amplifiers
5. cables

That's an amazing deal. Wish there was a Fry's near here. Loved stopping by there when I lived in Austin.

Nice. What's also nice is that Voltron toy. I wanted one so bad as a kid.

You are downgrading the room. I don't care how good your speakers are they won't sound good in a bad sounding room. What compounds the problem for you are the metal drivers and horns.

Here's what you can do in there.

1) Area rug
2) Window treatments
3) Soft hanging on the walls
4) Furniture (assuming you have this already)

You don't have to go crazy but you do need to do something to limit all of those harsh reflective surfaces.

How do you have these connected? I have a Panasonic 60GT50 and a Yamaha RX-A820. If I turn on my receiver before my TV or turn my receiver on before my TV fully boots, I get no sound. I have to reboot my receiver for it activate the digital board or something.

My wife would have that shite in the front yard with the quickness. That living room looks like a black guys trunk.

Easy to tell the single folks in these type threads.

This. shite would not cut it at all in my (wife's) house. I have a Mark Levinson and Revel system, but it is very classily built into the walls.

You never replied why you thought my speaker placement was odd when I bumped the old thread. Any chance you've got a hot tip?

It sounds like something is kicking back from the TV as it comes on. How are the two connected? I'm guessing HDMI. If so have you tried swapping out HDMI cables?

My workspace is not that clean and never has been

Embarrassed to take a pic of my desk setup right now, but here's an older potato cam shot of it.

And I'm sure everyone by now has seen the beast that runs all of it.
