I am officially on the LED bulb bandwagon and want to change out my bathroom vanity light bulbs to LED. The current bulbs are six 60 watt incandescent bulbs in two fixtures totaling six bulbs. I am guessing that soft white would be the best choice but curious what others have used in a bathroom for accurate lighting?

Any bulb with a 2700k or 3000k temperature is what you're looking for. Anything higher than that and it starts to have that bluish tint to it. The standard Cree bulbs at home depot are what I have throughout my home and you can't tell the difference from a regular bulb.

Always go for soft white in doors. I tried daylight and it looked like an office building. Took them out right away. Just my opinion though.

I looked at the Cree bulbs at HD for about 8 bucks each. Did you find them equivalent to the 60 watt bulbs they replace?

I did the same. My kitchen looked like an operating room

Yep. Actually I find them to be a little more crisp if that makes any sense. They don't make anything look all washed out.

Plenty of people do because they think it means it's brighter when it's just your eyes seeing more whites than yellows. Your house feels like a cold office full of cubicle though.

Thats funny. I have a few soft whites and was wondering what the daylight bulbs would look like, glad yall got that out of the way.

Although I did pick up some daylight exterior floods.

1 daylight 95w equiv vs 1 old school flood. The LED is the "Ecosmart" brand from Home Depot, $18

Any difference between the Phillips or Cree screw in bulbs or just go with what is cheapest?

GE made some that were 2850k I think. They were in their reveal lineup and I bought a bunch of them on a sale for about $8/pc. I really like them, they are a little brighter and less yellow than your typical warm, but not too cold either. A nice sweet spot.

Just finished putting the osram lightify in my living room... I no longer like the daylight setting. looks great in my sons room, but i guess this room is too big, and it just looks off.

Like the others said, definitely do soft white. I once tried the "daylight" Cree bulbs in my bathroom and it felt ... Off. Some weird blue hints in a bathroom just instantly make you feel weird.

We settled on the 4000k range looking best. Turned them to 65, and the wife claimed it looked like a prison.

I like 2700k for bedrooms and living rooms and 3000k for bathrooms and kitchen.
