Microsoft is preparing to launch two new Lumia flagship devices at an event in October. While we've seen some images emerge along with full specifications, Evan Blass (Evleaks) has published what appears to be official press renders for both devices. Codenamed Cityman and Talkman, Microsoft is expected to name its new devices the Lumia 950 (Talkman) and Lumia 950 XL (Cityman). The leaked images show both devices, with a slight hump for the camera at the rear. Both sport a simple Microsoft logo at the back, and a mostly square look. Microsoft's Cityman is the cyan colored handset, while the smaller (5.2-inch) Talkman is shown in black.
Microsoft's Cityman is the larger of the two devices, with a 5.7-inch WQHD display and 20-megapixel PureView rear camera with triple LED flash. The Cityman handset will include support for the Surface Pen and a new smart cover that has a circular cut out for easy access to notifications. Both devices are expected to include support for USB Type-C and Qi wireless charging. An additional image also leaked earlier today on a German podcast, showing the Cityman handset with an accessory that will provide support for the new Continuum feature of Windows 10 Mobile and the ability to attach additional USB devices to the phone.

So no Surface phones then?

Damn, looks like a phone.
Serious question: no matter the platform, all phones on the market are pretty good and pretty close in performance, with minor incremental benefit from one model to the next. What's the next big advance in phones?

The Surface phone is separate from the Lumia series, so this doesn't rule out a Surface phone in any way, these were expected in the Lumia line.
It may mean no Surface phone this year though, can't see them releasing 3 phones at around the same time.

Has there been any word on who will carry them? I have been wanting a good Microsoft for awhile now. They have proven in the past 2 years they can get the hardware together, I am hoping windows 10 will prove they can get the software polished as well.

8.1 with denim is very good. Cannot wait for the new stuff though. I fear that I will not be able to get one for months after the "release" though. Hoping AT&T is first, but would not mind switching to Verizon.

I can't believe they are still putting that ugly operating system on their phones. Give me windows 7 on a phone and I am getting rid of my Note.

You really think windows 7 is better than 8/10?

How are the apps on the Windows phones? I had a Windows phone a couple of years ago and the apps were severely lacking.
Then again, I didn't own a Lumia.

I'm wondering that also. As long as garmin connect and Strava are on there I'm good.

Windows 10 apps are universal among all Windows 10 platforms, apps shouldn't be a problem for long thanks to continuum. It will automatically scale the apps to the platform, so one app is all developers have to develop and it will work the same whether on PC, Surface, Mobile, etc.
The 808 is okay, step down from the flagship 810, but still good. Unfortunately fall phones suffer from Qualcomm's early new year release schedule. But that may be why the Surface phone won't launch until early next year, so that it can have the massive improvement of the 820. Qualcomm is hyping the 820 as the largest improvement for mobile processors in 2 years and the Surface phone will need every little bit of power it can get.

I have a GS4 that works great so I'm in no rush to upgrade although my two year contract expires on October 21st.

It's so pathetic that this is even a story

If MS can ever get all the apps people use, they will become a mobile player.

The Windows phones look awesome. Let's hope someone can compete with Android and Apple

Not bad, but I want the iSurface whatever it was called. I do miss my Lumia1020 camera though.
And I miss the tile homescreen.

The 808 is okay, step down from the flagship 810
