Is a Nexus 5X a good buy?

I have had an s6 active for right at a year. The phone has been a POS since I bought it. I am going to buy something different. I can get the Nexus 5X for around $200 brand new. I can sell my s6 active for almost $150. I plan on switching to google Fi when my AT&T contract is up in a year. Is the 5x good enough to last me a year? Possible stretch it out to 2 year since I can use it on google Fi?
I also considered going ahead and buying out my AT&T next payments and making the move to Fi now. I figured it up and think it might actually save me money over the long term. Any thoughts on this plan.

I absolutely hate big phones. Honestly the S6 active and 5x are both bigger than id like. The iphone 5 was about perfect size for me

My Galaxy S5 was the worst cell phone I ever owned. Took about a month and a half but it would drop calls, shut down for no reason, battery wouldn't even last until lunch, you name it. It was such a laggy piece of shite. And every year they say, "Seriously, dude, they fixed all that stuff." Yeah right.
The 5X looks good. I'm looking at the ZTE Axon 7, the OnePlus 3, the HTC 10, or the Huawei P9.

Whats really bad is when I called Samsung tech support when my external speaker stopped working right, the first question they asked me is if I had exposed it to any water or drops. I said "isn't the active supposed to be water and shock resistant?" They didn't ask about those things again.

When you buy out of AT&T next do you only pay for the remaining balance of the phone?

I only owed one more payment and just paid cash prior to porting my number over.
FYI AT&T did try to hit me with a bullshite disconnection fee two months later. I just wadded it up and through it in the trash.

Look at the ZTE Axon 7. Supposedly top end specs and the phone costs like 380 bucks
