The screen caps of the Photos app look incredibly derivative of the Photos app on iOS
I just installed it. I find that it looks quite credibly derivative of the prior version of Google Photos.
And the face detection is scary accurate, though I have found some errors.

Just downloaded it. It's strange that it still makes me pick between "high quality" and "original," even though the N6 camera is less than 16MP.

Like the zoom feature in gallery/editing tools animations/personal assistant (took three photos of the shoreline in SF this weekend, the PA stitched them together to create a panorama)
Miss some of the editing tools/ name changes of tools as well

Probably so. Just glad for the free video storage. Takes all the effort out of me deciding which videos to delete, store on my PC, etc.

Incredibly, it recognizes my son from newborn to almost 3 years old as the same kid. It also correctly picked out other kids of very similar age and hair color as different kids.

Incredible is right. I'm thoroughly impressed by this app. The methods it uses to categorize every single one of my pics over the last 6 years is incredible. Kudos Google, well done.

Now On Tap looks fricking genius, no more annoying arse copy/paste.

fricking work has me out of the loop. Can I get Now On Tap now? Or is it part of M?

Just installed Google Photos on my iPhone. It is awesome...extremely well designed. Unlimited storage is great. It will be my go to app now for backing up all my photos and videos.

It's recognizing my son as two different people. Understandable because with his skull surgery his facial structure has changed, and Google has apparently differentiated his photos with and without the surgical helmet. But I can't figure out if there's a way to fix it.

Hopefully they will put out an update where you can join/merge two faces recognized as the same person, which would in turn help their recognition software

Android M looks like Nova. I didn't see anything new. I'm sure there will be but I was very unimpressed with the design.

A testament to the maturity of mobile platforms across the board. I'm not sure if we're ever going to see another game changing Android release.

I actually think Ubuntu is onto something here. Having "an app for everything" is nice and all, but I feel like we're at a point where it's just too much. Android widgets solve this problem somewhat since you can configure multiple homescreens with the info you need already there, but Ubuntu is taking this a step further with their "scopes". Instead of thinking of which app to use for a specific task, we will just start a task and the phone will collect the related info and apps you need.

I don't think this would be that hard for Google to integrate into Google Now...
