Have any of y’all ever traded in a phone with minor crack? How much did they deduct from the credit? The wife has a very small crack in a corner of her screen but wants to upgrade.

I have not, however, if it's minor, I'd always say it's the "best" and put the ball in their court to say it's not.

Which, side question, how does that work? If I have a 500$ balance on my Apple Card and I do the monthly payments at like 30$ a month for the watch BUT I still have 100$ balance the next month, any ideas on how that works? Hope that made sense...

I've done the 0% APR on a MBP and I think that's how it works, it shows the remaining installment payments but it doesn't show up in your balance. I don't know if it counts against your limit. I doubted Apple Card when it came out, and I'm sure I shouldn't do it for hosts of reasons, but it's just so easy.

Apple Card+Installments at 0% is dangerous and I think is probably brilliant for roping in people who are generally responsible and pay their balance every month. "Here buy this $1,000 thing you won't even notice."

If anyone has Verizon, I’d consider looking at the Apple One Unlimited plan. I’ve been a long-time customer and usually upgrade every year. I am upgrading from the 13 Pro Max to the 14 Pro Max (both 256 GB), and changed over to this plan and my bill dropped considerably. Definitely worth looking into.

Note: I was on their “large” family 20GB plan previously

Sure but how does it work in the sense of:
Month 1 on Apple Card:
500$ balance from normal transactions (groceries, gas, etc)
+ 30$ a month for Apple Watch Ultra (total of 800$)
-----
Paid 400$ total toward Apple Card

Month 2 on Apple Card:
130$ balance left from normal transactions (didn't pay off full balance)
+ 30$ for watch (total of 770$ left)

Does that make sense? So if I have a 500$ balance + 30$ a month for watch. Then I make a 400$ payment, did I really just make a 370$ payment towards previous debt and my 30$ a month installment payments?

Does that make sense? I feel like I'm back doing balance sheets in college.

Yes, which is why they do it lol. I always just pay it off every month, but it is kinda shady.

Your balance monthly will reflect the installment payments. In this instance the $500 balance would include the $30 watch installment, so the monthly balance would actually be $530. I would suggest simply paying the statement balance monthly to avoid any confusion.

Yea, I think if I were to accrue that kind of debt, I'd just throw it on a BestBuy credit card instead for 0% interest for 24months. Pay 50-100$ a month and be done with it asap.

That seems wiser, money wise, than putting it on my wife and I's Apple Card, which we use daily for stuff.

I'm not a diver or else I'd 1000% get this item. From what I saw, it may not need to be a backup but instead your main driver. "Main diver driver" - dad joke.

I have an XR and i am looking to upgrade to the 14. Should I get the 14 Max, 14 Pro, or 14 Pro Max? I've never had a Plus type of iphone. Besides the size difference, is there much difference in the 14 Max and the 14 Pro?

I have the 12 pro max and thoroughly love larger phones. But for women and folks that generally just prefer something more pocket-able, the "pro" line is nice too.

It's really just personal preference but think you'll love the 14 pro max. I am jealous.

If the camera is important to you, definitely go for the Pro model. It’s a 12mp vs 48mp difference.

As per Pro vs Pro Max, I personally am not a fan of the size of the Max. Anytime you go out or to an event, you’ll have a giant square bulging out of your pocket. And you can’t quickly slip your phone in and out of your pocket with the max, but ultimately you adjust to the size.

I went for the pro maxs 512. I’m curious how much larger the 48mp file size is vs the 12mp. Throw in any raw files and it might add up fast. My bill will actually go down $40ish and get the fam new phones. Only suck part is 36month.

So it's kinda confusing how it works.

If you only pay the minimum it's simple. So for example if you have a $1000 balance on your phone and it is $40 a month, it will deduct $40 a month at the end of the month. It will show up as a purchase each month.

If you want to pay extra it gets complicated.

Let's say you have a $500 balance on your card, not including the $1000 balance of your phone. If you want to pay off an extra $100 on your phone you must pay the $500 balance too. So in order to pay $100 you have to pay $600 at once. .

Personally while it is complicated I think it's worth it. How many people actually pay for their phone in full. The advantage of the Apple Card payments is you can pay extra on your phone, I don't think you can do that on the upgrade program. I don't think you can do that for Verizon ATT or T Mobile either.

I did a 12 month plan on my Apple Watch, and paid it off in full in about 6 months.

Right now on my iPhone 13, I think I'm $100 or $200 ahead on my schedule. It's nice not to be stuck on a phone plan for 24 months, it's worth it to pay it off early but not have to pay it in full.

I'm a bit of a cash back and travel rewards geek, so you might think I would see the Apple Card as not worth it, but IMO it is.

I probably average about 2.5% on cash back with this card.

A majority of my purchases are apple purchases, (apps, subscriptions through apple, actual apple products) Subscriptions add up a bit for me so it's worth it.

Normally all of my Gas purchases are at Exxon, because they offer 3% cash back on Exxon, but right now my chase freedom is offering 5% on all gas purchases.

I occasionally go to Walgreens or order out from Uber Eats and get 3% cash back.

I do use 2% option for Apple Pay purchases but I get 3% more often than 2% so about 2.5%. For a $0 fee card it's competitive.
