what...? Freddy Adu died 5 years ago...

lol

For some reason, JK had MB in Freddy's spot tonight. I don't think that happens again.

You can sub as many guys as you want in a friendly. After his performances in the Gold Cup, you would think he would be way above Clark and Rogers in the pecking order. I was just curious if there was a reason why he didn't dress out today.

I think Freddy's place on the team is secure b/c JK realizes Freddy is unique in the player pool. He just needs to play with a club.

I'll take Freddy to an MLS club, even if it's Chivas

I feel better overall. We actually have some selection questions when Dempsey and Holden and Chandler and Jozy come back and that's a good thing.

If we go with 1 striker, probably the best option at this point (this idea that you can't be a good attacking team with one striker is ludicrous) then is it Jozy, or Juan, or even Demps?

What's the attacking three behind him? Demps, Donovan, Bedoya, Adu, Shea, maybe even Holden in the center of a 4-2-3-1?

If Holden doesn't play an attacking role then who are the two more deep lying midfielders? Holden and Bradley? Jones? Torres? Edu and Beckerman as squad players? We have options.

Our back line is still depressing. Who's our least shitty left back? And what will the central defense partnership be? But I'm feeling relatively optimistic about the front 6 which is a nice change.

Lichaj should be the left back. He is damn good. Our backs are fine, but central defense is main only weakness.

I really like Lichaj, I just wish he was left footed. He can be a bit predictable because he doesn't want anything to do with using his left foot. But I agree he's our best option at this moment.

Forgot about him. The backline is a totally different animal when you include him and Chandler, if they can keep progressing. I don't know how you fit them on the field with 2 others, but that's for the coach to figure out. The important thing is that we field 4 competent soccer players back there.

Same as Bob Bradley. Played a decent squad. Hard to tell from 90 minutes and one week.

A.) With a new coach, if you're a player that isn't called up. You HAVE to play like it is the World Cup to get a future with the squad. I.E Shea and Beckerman.

B.) The players movement, desire and body movements were a ton better. Bradley lost his players. US Soccer was stale. While the tactics were ehhh and the players are the same players Bradley called up...Klinsmann's excitement was the difference in the game.

C.) I really love Klinsmann's enthusiasm.

Even though I'm feeling more optimistic now in that we have some solid players and some selection questions, Klinnsman got it wrong with his original lineup. Torres is not a wide player and Bradley is not an attacking midfielder. That's pretty obvious.

In some ways it was Bradley-esque. Make some bad choices originally and make some good adjustments.

But I like the enthusiasm and he did make some good changes. I'm hopeful that the initial lineup was a one off and he gets it right from the start from now on.

Note to assistant coaches: don't stand next to Klinsmann during a match. He will beat you like a Rockem-Sockem Robot.

Not completely sure, but both he and Ream were out before warmups chatting with the fans.

ETA: As for JK, he was Bradleyesque. I'm hoping Castillo doesn't become his Bornsucko.

I agree. He did have a make shift squad and I know you know this. It'll be interesting to see what he does down the road. The Fiscal pic k was crazy but worked out for him. he didn't play to bad.

We will see a lot of different players in the upcoming matches. Wouldn't surprise me to see different role players in every game. I could see some of these players not getting called into the September friendlies: Fiscal, Torres, Rogers, Clark, Edu, Adu, Beckerman, Shea

and see players like: Chandler, DeMerit, Bunbury, Bornstein, Dempsey, Lichaj, Mix, Bedoya, Gonzalez.

I think he really does give a lot of people chances and then will work from there.

We had a pretty shitty squad and we still drew. Mexico didn't have Chicharito but we didn't have lots of players.

Should be an automatic call up now. He was awesome.

I didn't say he was bad. No one should be an AUTO call up really outside of Donovan, Howard, Boca, Dempsey.

But I just think that Klinsmann will give lots of people opportunities to shine. He hasn't even selected a coaching staff, yet.

With the experience Bornstein has. It wouldn't surprise me to call him into camp. Camp =/ Playing

As gay as it sounds, him being the coach is refreshing as hell. He brings in knowledge but the players want to listen to him too. They know what he's done and what he has to offer them. If Bob Bradley would have been the coach I don't think people would have reacted the same way to the result.

Also, his interview after the game relieved some reservations I had about him. He gives people their chances and as long as Bornstein doesn't get called up we are going in the right direction

They guy has had two practices with, more or less, the same players. There's not a magic player store somewhere that Klinsi has keys to that Bob didn't. Bob didn't totally freeze out THAT many good players.

It makes sense to start out like Bob, see for yourself, in person, how it works, then make the changes, just as he did. Bob wasn't THAT horrible. But the changes were bang-on, and those kids really brought it.I LOVED Agudelo's pace with the ball, and his courage in taking it and going, daring Los Cabrones to come with.....and they did, on more than one occasion, opening up Shea, and we saw the result.

LOVE Klinsi, I loved him as a player, one of my all-time favorites, and he's still beloved at White Hart Lane, too. He's that type of person. The optimism is infectous, I watched the game on DVR, and from before the goal, through his interview, boy did he really lay it out to Rob Stone, right? until I woke up this morning, I had a goofy smile on my face.

Bring the Ticos, putas.
