Which adds to me believing Chandler is the #2. With us having so few capable LB/RBs, I don't see how he leaves off Chandler.

LB depth is shallower than RB depth, yet DMB is starting in Azteca while Garza gets no run outside of a January camp.

That's how I can see him leaving off Chandler

What's it say about how he thinks of Lichaj when the only group stage game he played in was against Martinique?

A) I'm not arguing that Lichaj is a lock.

B) Why are you ignoring his start two days ago? That seems disingenuous.

I think Garza ends up as our #2 LB by next summer. He's still coming back from being out of soccer for over a year.

I'm not, but it seems to me that Arena trusts Zusi more in the bigger games. I think he rested Zusi on Wednesday in order to play him against Costa Rica.

And that is why Chandler is not a lock.

Now, if he earns that trust in September or November, then it's a different story.

Had a pretty serious injury. Just have to wait and see how he comes back from it. Played yesterday for the first time in 2 and a half months.

He's in the discussion, but he's just now coming back from a knee injury that's kept him out for 2 months and he will be 36 this time next year.

For guys y'all haven't mentioned:

Nagbe - his ability to create and his versatility to play him out wide has his ticket booked to Russia IMO.

Nipples - won't call him a lock yet but with Pulisic as the 10 we are thin on the wings and he has looked pretty good of late

ETA: missed Nagbe in the OP somehow. Sorry

And in no way to I have Dax over Acosta. No chance

I think we have some depth on the wings. Nagbe, Fab, Lletget (when he gets healthy), Arriola, Saief, Wood could play there, Bedoya if needed, Gooch can play there, Gaines could get in the conversation with a good season,

I do not know.

Rowe also looked decent in the Gold Cup.

I liked what I saw from Rowe a lot. Need to see more of course though but he earned that chance to get more looks

Locks (in order): Michael Bradley, Christian Pulisic, Tim Howard, Fabian Johnson, Geoff Cameron, Clint Dempsey, Jozy Altidore. I think that's it in terms of locks.

Highly probable, meaning 90% + chance(in order): Brad Guzan, Darlington Nagbe, John Brooks, DeAndre Yedlin.

80%+ chance: Bobby Wood, Omar Gonzales, Matt Besler, Jorge Villafana.

So that is 15 players with a really strong chance of coming. Add in whoever is the third goalkeeper, and that means everyone else is fighting for 7 spots.

I think that means we will have one or two more fullbacks, two forwards, and three or four midfielders.

If I had to guess, I would say the final 7 spots would go to Timothy Chandler, Graham Zusi, Danny Williams, Alejandro Bedoya, Paul Arriola, Sacha Kljestan, and either Jordan Morris or Dom Dwyer.

I don't want Zusi at all, and I am probably against Chandler as well.

I think the close cuts are going to be DaMarcus Beasley, Tim Ream, Seb Lletget, and Joe Corona. I doubt Jermaine Jones will make it, as well.

If Aron Johannsen is healthy, he could be the last striker in.

Not only is Yedlin a lock, but he's one of the first players I'd say is a lock behind Pulisic.

Keys, how likely do you think it is that Sacha or even Danny Williams make it after being excluded from this team? Danny Williams not playing in this tourney because he's European based makes sense. What excuse/reason do Sacha/Benny have?

Wow, that is a total whiff on my part. I would include Acosta on the 80% lock group, which basically means we have only 6 spots up for grabs.

I think this means Kljestan (or whichever attacking central mid) would be the one dropped since Arena seems to like Arriola and Bedoya a lot, and I think Williams will have a huge opportunity to shine in the EPL this year in several positions.

As for how I came up with Kljestan, it was more a personal choice. I figured Bruce would look for a dynamic guy who can facilitate on offense. I couldn't come up with the perfect fit, but it looks like he's ahead of Feilhaber and Nguyen for sure. He could also go more conservative and pick someone like Corona.
