How does that make help his case to being a lock?
He called him up when it mattered?

If we go empty bucket in Russia (which would be a huge mistake but not something I'd put past Bruce) and Dax continues to outplay him like he has been these last 2 weeks. Jermaine and Dax go over him.
We're not taking only 3 players for our 2 most important positions. We will take a CM that is younger than 29.

He called up 27 players in that camp and was one of 3 RB's on that roster. Hardly a lock.

Look, Timmy's more than likely going to get called up in September and, if he actually makes it to camp, then great. But with the World Cup less than a year away, it's hard for me to call someone a lock when he has yet to play for the current coaching regime. Couple that with Chandler's wishy-washy call-up history, that makes it even harder.

Do you not count Pulisic as a central player?

In 2014 our central players, not including Cameron who did play CDM against Belgium, were Bradley, Jones, Beckerman and Mix (who never played).

I just don't see any way that Zusi makes the final roster.

Ideally, I agree, but he has been in every camp for Bruce so far. If he wasn't in consideration at this point, that wouldn't happen.

Dax had one good game against a concacaf minnow. He has not impressed me.

I don't see him playing the positions that Bradley and/or Jones typically play.

Only 1 of those players were over 30. I don't see our CMs being 29 (a few days from 30), 36, and a slow 31 year old.

Because our LB and RB pool is very, very shallow. He's essentially just calling in the guy with CONCACAF and USMNT experience. Same thing with Beasley.

He was good against Ghana as well. And I agree that he is not someone that has overly impressed me, nor do I get excited about the idea of him on the plane to Russia, but in that same breath, Acosta has looked underwhelming against these same CONCACAF minnows.

And I'm someone who has been/still is very high on Acosta and was expecting him to make this tournament his bitch.

Right, but did you see Mix doing that in 2014?

Arena isn't Jurgen...

Am I doing it right?

Arena thinks he needs to work on his defense.

True, but I don't think we're taking 4 holding mids, especially when one of them is Bradley who has hardly ever not been healthy and when you also have Cameron slide in there as well if necessary.

If it were up to me, I'd take Acosta after Bradley with Jermaine, Dax and maybe Roldan fighting for that last spot. All I'm saying is that I can see a scenario where Bruce wants to go safe and pair a veteran with Bradley i.e. Jones or Dax. It's not the scenario with the highest likelihood, but it's possible.

Seems a tad hypocritical considering Zusi is a converted mid/winger.

He may take either Dax or Jones, but if he only takes 3 holding mids, he's not taking both.

Which adds to me believing Chandler is the #2. With us having so few capable LB/RBs, I don't see how he leaves off Chandler.

Sure, but is he a lock over Zusi and Lichaj for that matter? No, not even close.

What's it say about how he thinks of Lichaj when the only group stage game he played in was against Martinique?
