Thought that was funny myself. Some of the excerpts from his book are hysterical.

I don't see how anyone can say that it wasn't even possibly a red. I walked by the tv and just barely saw a replay of the foul. So maybe I missed something but it looked like he jumped and put his cleats in the other guys torso. Is that not what happened? If it is, I'm sorry but that's a red.

Didnt look bad, but on slow mo it did look like after contact was made he still kicked/pushed at the player with his cleat.

The ref was pretty much shite and I didn't think it was a straight red on that call, but frick Man U. I'm ok with it.

Any player who lunges at an opponent when challenging for the ball from the front, from the side or from behind using one or both legs, with excessive force and endangering the safety of an opponent, is guilty of serious foul play.

Source: Laws of the Game

The ref deemed Nani's challenge as one of excessive force and endangering of Arbeloa's safety. Therefore, the call is correct. It could be argued that there was not excessive force behind Nani's challenge, but there is not an argument that it wasn't dangerous.

really? to me it looked like he retracted his leg to lessen the blow once he realized he was about to deliver a flying kick to the chest.

It was reckless and at that point you leave it up to the ref. I don't agree it was a red, but that is a judgement call and I can at least see why the red card was pulled out.

Ok, I just saw it again. United fans, stop complaining. It was not a horrible call. Your entitlement atitude may only be rivaled by bama and notre dame fans.

if it's dangerous, then it's subject to a possible red

Then Crouch should have gotten a red a few weeks ago when he attempted a bicycle kick and accidentally kicked a guy in the face. I mean, it was dangerous.

Most headers should be given red. I mean, what if they hit the other guy in the head with their head??

Corner kicks should be given red. I mean, they put guys in a big scrum where anything dangerous can happen!!

What about goal posts? Those guys are vicious. Red. Someone might run into them and get a boo-boo.

Dangerous AND excessive is the rule for red card for foul play. The ref deemed both occurred with Nani's challenge.
